For those who are running a straight pipe from the turboback, how loud is it! I'm thinking of doing a 3inch straightpipe from my aftermarket downpipe to the tailpipe! Right now I have a Apex-i n1 canister 3inch turboback, but I want something more raspy and mean sounding, but not nasty sounding! I will be keeping the apex-i unit for later, but for now I really wanna do a straight pipe, also the apex-i unit has a couple of resonaters in it, so with a straight pipe I should get a tad bit better flow right? Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome. If anyone has any vids of a 1g with a straight pipe system please post.

It is loud, but definately not a bad sound. My friends all tell me it sounds tough and deep. It is loud, but with a 3" tip it is not very noticable to the untrained eye that I have a modified exhaust, but you can certainly hear that it is modified.

got any sound clips or vids of your car, or any pics of your setup, what kind of tailpipe did you use?

Its going to be loud, your can hear the turbo spool at idle my freind has 3inch straight with COMP CAMs it sounds mean and nice.

I have a 3" o2 back with an apexi n1 capping it off and at idle its just as loud if not louder than a diesel truck but once you get in the upper rpm ranges it sounds pretty sweet

There is a picture in my gallery of my exhaust exiting the back of the car. It looks kind of odd to me because of the angle of the muffler and the tip and such, but it works.

When I bought my car it had an apex muffler with no cat. It was so loud and nasty sounding. I got pulled over for my exhuast twice in one week. I took it off and it was better but still a little loud. I thought it would get worse with no muff but apex muffler should be called an amplifer. Now i have a magnaflow race muff that is 3" straight through. I could stick my arm through it. It sounds so great I would look into one of these. To answer your question though is yes it will be loud and it would flow a little better if its not a straight through apex muff.

I have full 3" catless exhaust with only a dynomax bullet, and it sounds mean as hell, loud, but very nice. I get compliments all the time.

I havea 3'' Exhaust with test pipe going to a 5'' tip thermal research and it isnt LOUD but it isnt QUIET...I think its a very nice sound to be honest.
