straight pipes...?

It doesnt make it "hella" louder. Its on a turbo car, the turbo is going to quiet down any exhaust considerably. Its going to be louder, yes, but unless you run no pipes, its not going to blow you out. There are several exhausts that have low DP ratings, if your concerned about noise. Some of the quieter exhausts are greddy and apexi dunk.

A cat goes between your downpipe and catback, its just another part of your exhaust basically. It is used to heat exhaust gases to reduce NOx output. A high-flow cat replaces the stock one with a larger, better flowing one while a straight pipe replaces this altogether with just a pipe. This will undoubtedly make you unable to pass emissions though in case you cant get by that.

greddys are pretty loud. Apex World sport and RS*r are near stock nosie level.

Greddy SP is NOT loud, nor are really any of their other exhausts w/ the exception of power extreme. They are well within the decibal limitations so im not sure where you get get this idea from.

Have you ever heard the greddy evo, it is within limitations but it is still pretty loud.

Yeah and i know a few people w/ turbo cars that have it. Sounds good, but no where near loud. I think you are comparing it to a Greddy EVO on a n/a car. Now that is a little louder.
