Straight pipe no cat and muffler

I like loud cars my old Z28 didn't have mufflers and I loved it. I am really considering cutting them off but I want to know that it's not going to sound terrible. I have the stock 2g right now. If I will then I am going to wait to cut off the resonators.

it's going to sound like police sirens :thumb:

I was wondering what kind of gain would i get from putting a test pipe and no muffler on. both straight pipes on a stock exhaust. better turbo spool?

I would guess very little, so little that it's not worth your (or friends) time to do it. If you don't have a cat and a loud exhaust, your just asking for a ticket since it is illegal in all states to remove a cat. That being said, I took the cat out of my 92 TsiAWD (full 3" exhaust) and didn't feel a difference. It did not get any louder either so cops wouldn't know my cat was gone.

Took my cat out of my 99 gst and i noticed a lil bit of a gain. I have a 3' catback stock dp no cat.

I have a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust with a borla muffler and no catalytic converter and all I noticed was sound change really. But I do have a td06 20g and I never did get the chance to dirive my car on a stock setup. But I've been around alot of stock cars and haven't noticed anything other then the sound and how loud it is when im at full throttle.

I gained about 8 mph in the 1/4 going from bone stock, to straight 3" on a 16g and e85.

I corrected the spelling after stumbling across this.

I'm debating issuing infractions to those "moderating" that are incapable of submitting a reported post due to your lack of regards for the rules you're calling him on.

OP: Just spell properly
2g4me: Note the need for proper spelling to aid in searching.
Wannabemods: Use the tools offered to you and we'll us the ones available to us.

Clear?

Not a problem, i just take note that if your not gonna help in aiding the guys question and just criticize, then you have no reason to submit a reply. Noone wants a hypocrite telling them what to do...Just sayin. Otherwise, your crystal clear:thumb:

Note the title under my name. I have a GREAT reason to have to babysit you kids.

Maybe, while reading the rules, you can note the one about moderator issues and how to handle them. :hmm:

Thanks for stopping in.

Do what you want man at the end of the day if you don't like it, change it. If the exhaust is loud and obnoxious and YOU like it who cares? The great thing about these cars is they are not a punk @$$ civic accord or neon and will run like a raped ape. So people want to knock on your exhaust then show them different.

I was thinking of just doing a downpipe with a glasspack w/ turn downs these turbo cars do not NEED back pressure its really personal preference anyways.. check the classified section there are some exhaust for sale for real cheap.

Just saying. Shiny side up!

i have a nice setup im putting on my colt4g63 swap... 3inch exhaust goes straight back i have a glasspack in the middle does 90 degree turn and comes out in front of tire... painted black.no cat- no muffler! .. I left the stock muffler in back, for stock look.....I did that on my built civic.. wasnt crazy loud but than again i got use to it! ever time i seen cop just threw in neutral... LOL... also being in illinois is nice 95 and older no emmisions! :hellyeah:

backpressure isnt really good on a turbo but that straight test pipe would be a good mod. i would leave some type of muffler on the car apexi or hks? i recommend both of those they sound really good and have good products. but on a stock 4g with that i would think you would actually lose power cause you still need some type of backpressure for the motor, in my opinion straight pipe is a no go

Just get a 2.5 inch downpipe and a 3 inch the rest of the way. Also if you have emissions you should get a 3 inch cat and be done with it.A straight pipe exhaust is ganna be loud raspy and you may want throw in some resinators so it doesn't sound to horrific. You don't really gain hp from exhaust you free up horsepower. So whatever good deal you get I would just go with that.
