stock rods on built motor

Hey guys, my motor is being rebuilt and I got Pistons and not rods (didn't have the money and pressed for time), but they checked my rods and they are perfect. I have all other supporting mods and then some, check out my progress at www.rollincarcustoms.com under customer cars>David Scruggs 97 GST(more info) and voila. I have heard many rumers of some people pushing 500hp on stock internals. I plan on running a GT-30R duel ball bearing turbo capable of somewhere around 560hp and I was hoping you guys could reasure my expectations on a safe, 400+hp, daily driven car.


I got a lot of money in this thing and don't want it to just go KABOOM and start all over! Also ROLLIN has lots of great stuff for DSM's so feel free to check it out or give him a call.

The feedback i have received off here on my previous same question was the stock 1G rod will take 550 WHP, so add a set of ARP bolts and i think you will be safe! I am build a 2.4 hybrid and have had my rods narrowed to fit the 7 bolt crank polished and shot peened with the ARP bolts and I'm am aiming for 600WHP and i am quite confident they will be fine on a street car type use with a few drag times.

I agree, the stock rods are quite tough.
They usually can go to very high 400-530 easily.

Just like everything else though, have them tested, peened and balanced.

Yea I didn't go that cheap, they did all that good stuff and said there's nothing wrong with them, stretched, warped, ......perfectly fine.
