Stock fuel, stock ic/pipes 14b record

There is not really much you can do with the stock fuel pump. I hit a 13.3 with the stock injectors, lines, intercooler & piping and exhaust.

hey guys, i was going to install an FP big 28turbo, and i was wondering if i could get by with just 550 injectors and a new fuel pump, just somthing to make the car run right with the turbo. and yes i do have the SAFC to adjust em. thankks ?????
Come on:beatentodeath:

I know Phil Beers went 12.0 many years ago on the stock injectors/IC.

Wow, great memory!

Had walbro pump only. Stock FPR, 1G MAF, etc.

Went to 12.49@107 with stock pump and then decided it was better to be safe than sorry and upgraded the pump.

I enjoyed the read. At what point did you have to cut the divider wall on the 1G MAS? I wish it was easy to get ahold of good 14b turbos. Theres no way of making a 14b with a 16g is there? I always wanted to shoot for that record.

I'm not sure that I had to remove that wall, but it's easy to see why there are benefits to doing so. I'm fairly certain that particular mod came as a recommendation from another 14b guy at the time, Greg Horn, who had gone 12.4@110 when only Doug Derby and Jeff Carpenter had hit 12.2-3.

In a nutshell....warding off fuel cut is one reason for this mod, as I had a stock non-eprom ecu,and easier airflow to the engine. I went to the 2G MAF years ago and have run my original 1G MAF in two other DSM's and it worked great. A streetgoing 14B DSM needs nothing more than this in my opinion, granted 2G MAFs are fairly cheap and easy to install.

It would seem to me that trying to set any record with the stock fuel pump is just asking to blow up the motor.

I was able to go 11.9 @ 111 on a 14b with a stock sidemount, but it was on 550s and a walbro pump.
