Hey everyone, I am looking to but a 2G GSX, 100% stock with 80k miles, it looks like a good deal but the price was just lowered a little because the engine threw a P0120 code.

I started doing a little research and I saw it was for people who had their BOV's venting to the atmosphere and not recirculated. And what you guys did was recirculate it and then reset the ecu and you were fine, now thats for you guys who started modding your cars.

Now what about stock? What does this mean? How is the BOV normally routed? I plan on going this weekend with cash to look at it, anything specific I should look for? Also, how do I reset the ecu?

Thanks

The stock bov is recirculated. If he still has the stock parts you can get the rubber hose that goes from the bov to the intake duct he probably just plugged the port and tossed the hose though. As far as resetting the ecu just unplug the battery for a minute or two and you should be good to go. I may be reading something different than you but p0120 I thought to be throttle position sensor circut. There's a few subjects on tuners here about it.

Thanks, any pictures of the bov hoses? Also is the tbs a big deal? Cost to fix?

Ask and ye shall receive 2G Blow Off Valve BOV Recirculation Hose for 95 99 Eclipse Talon DSM 4g63 | eBay . I read through a couple threads and some guys say they have can't get rid of the code. You may just need a new one or maybe a wire is broke. In your Haynes manual(if you have one) there is a procedure for adjusting the tps and checking it for function. There is also some threads about it on here. PS I have a small piece of radiator hose for my bov due to aftermarket parts. You could do the same to get by, it just looks ghetto. Edit: when you look at it check everything you can put your hands on. Especially normal maintenance stuff like timing belt, maybe even do a compression check while you're there.

Okay so I found this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iDUFmvdFc4]99 Eclipse GSX bad TPS Sensor (DSMtuner.com) - YouTube[/ame]

Now what he unplugged, is that the TPS? When he unplugged it the car was fine, so if this is the case, can I just unplug it and drive home?

Also, any pictures of the BOV location? So I can check the recirculation hose? I am trying to get into DSM's I know a good amount about them just not every little detail.
