Depends on what units the gauge is reading. The car should read about 18 in hg vacuum.

No, he is not a she. He might be a heshe but I don't want to know. He's pointed out the sorted history of the account name in another thread.

I seem to remember the thread title being different but I could have spaced it rather than it being changed after the fact when the mods deleted the other two copies.

Yup, after telling so many people to check that I finally remember to check mine two days ago and it's off by 2psi.

yep it should be at 20vac at idle with the exceptions of +- 2. when my ac is on it sometimes drops to around 16~17

oh when my engine is shut off it's still at 0. and yeah i heard autometers tend to drift off on their boost/vac gauges. and sometimes on their oil pressure too

my one autometer gauge showed up and was at 10 psi, sent it back, next one came stuck around -15, sent that one back, the next one was at 2 psi, i said screw it and installed it in the car. Tired of screwing around with replacements

mine reads 0 when shut off but its right at -15 when i coast on the highway it gets down to around -20

A bit of clarification.

The stock "boost gauge" is neither a boost nor a vacuum gauge. It's a (pretty accurate, as it turns out) guess by the ECU of what's going on in the intake tract. However, the 1G gauge only goes to -7. The 2G gauge did away with the ersatz numbers altogether.

Until you install a real aftermarket boost/vac gauge, don't be too concerned.
