Are there any adapters I can find to make my stock cd changer work with my alpine cd player? :( I have the input place on my cd player but the eclipse cd changer coord wont match up. i keep reading that everyone says to replace the cd changer but wtf, mines perfectly fine, I just want to slap on an adapter and use it. and is there any way I can make use of the stock amp in the pass. seat?

how many watts is the stock amp rated at?

the radio that i'm thinking of getting doesn't have an internal amplifier, so would i be able hook it up to the stock amp to power my 4speakers?

The hassle of trying to configure the stock amp so it works with an aftermarket HU isn't worth it. Most aftermarket HU's built-in amps put out more power than those stock external amps. My best advice would be to just cut the thing completly out of your system...either get a HU with a built-in amp...or just get a small aftermarket 4 channel external amp. Anything that does in the range of 25-75w RMS per channel would work great.

i was installing my system up today but when i was going to hook my amp up to the back of my oem infinity head unit and there were no rca outputs. has anyone installed a amp on there oem hu? if so how did you do it? if it helps any i have a 95 gst that came with the infinity head unit.

thanks steve

yea the stock headunit doesnt have preamp inputs...just go to your local car audio store and buy some...ask them for preamp inputs for a older deck and they will know exactly what it is...just follow instructions for the install and viola

no prob

back when i had an older deck in my old truck it didnt have any preamps...i went to radioshack to get some...however radioshack is out of car audio so thats useles

Tweeter...maybe even bestbuy(but i doubt it) will have some

or any car audio store for that matter

doesnt your amp have a regular left to right + and - input? i know mine came with a clip that you run from your regular speakers to the amp. but maybe thats not for bass?

I just spliced rca connectors on the preamp outs that would run to the factory amp to my real amp. Sounds a lot better and looks stock. Of course I replaced the speakers too. There should be a wiring diagram some where around here but it's not 100% correct the thicker wires are + and -.

I hooked up a 1600 watt class D amp to my stock infinity head unit. You don't need an adapter if you're wiling to use a voltmeter and splice some wires. You have to tap into the wires going from the head unit to the stock amp under the passenger seat. Unplug the smaller connector and measure voltages. All you have to do is find the remote turn on wire by finding the leads that have constant DC voltage when the key is in the accesory position. Then play a CD with a constant beat so you get a steady AC signal, and use the fader and balance so that only one speaker is playing at a time. That way you can find which speaker corresponds to each lead going into the stock amp. It uses a common ground for each channel by the way. I was hooking up a sub with the amp running in mono, so I used both front channels combined for the signal to the amp since I replaced my stock 6x9's with 5 1/2's for better high end clarity and I knew I would have plenty of bass. It only took me about an hour to wire it up and it works great. Save your $$ for go fast mods:thumb:

You can use the amplified signal to the speakers if you're new amp supports it, but it won't sounds as clear. Also the above method allows you to add passive crossovers on each channel before amplification (the correct way to do it) so you can push more bass signal to your new amp without distorting your door and rear speakers.

I searched already through several different threads but I never came up with an answer to this. The reason im looking for this is, I'm installing a new set of components and a new amp. However, for the components, it seems extremely difficult if not impossible to rewire them without drilling into the doors of my car, which im not comfortable doing right now. My new amp will be placed in the same place as the old one, so I figure that I can just use the speaker wiring already installed. I have a 98 Spyder GST so i figure the wiring isnt that old and it should be fine for the 100watts RMS im running to the components. Also, where do you guys place your crossover? I'm putting it inside the door, but im kind of worried about moisture and such. I was considering putting the crossover in a plastic bag or saran wrap. Its a shame, because the crossovers are beautiful, but I'm trying to retain as much of a stock appearance as possible. Im using CDT CL61 components if that helps at all. Thanks
Andy

My crossovers are under the seat because I am still using the factory tweeters as my current set up is the "get me by until i get all my gear together" system.

Here are some crappy pictures i took with my $19 digi cam. I'll post the wire colors in a little bit in the tech section too for future reference, I was working on my system when I saw your post.

Left rear
+ yellow w/ blue
- gray w/ blue

Left front tweeter
+ yellow w/ blue
- gray w/ blue

LF Mid
+ white w/ blue
- black w/ blue

Right Rear
+ yellow w/ red
- gray w/ red

Right front tweeter
+ yellow w/ red
- gray w/ red

RF Mid
+ white w/ red
- black w/ red

Note that the tweeter colors and rear colors are the same.
You will need to use a drill battery to "pop" the speakers so you can determine which ones go together and which set is which. Make sure that your head unit is not connected to any speaker wires on your adapter harness also. the 2 red wires are some sort of power, the black 2 are a ground connected under the carpet. you can just remove them and use that screw as your under seat amp ground.
Best of luck

just posted them for you.

sorry it took so long, had to disassemble the car again to install some leds to light up the tray in the center console and the rear seat floorwells.
Got tired of not being able to find anything (sunroof car)

Ive read through some threads and ive kind of gotten out of them that there is no way to raelly hook up a subwoofer to the stock amp.

I have this old rockford fosgate like 12" woofer and i was wondering if theres jus anything i can do to jus hook it up to the stock amp just for a little bump, or do i hav to get a aftermarket amp.

and also if it says like 500 watt output 2 X 250. would i hook up to the outputs on the sub to get 500 or somthing? is the channel out for the speakers the same as the channel out for a sub? im so dumb when it comes to this, im gonna read up

dont bother...buy a cheap amp of flebay if your trying to save $$

i agree with him.

if you hook a sub up to that stock amp, its not gonna "bump" any harder than your 6x9's.

AND it will only take away from the sound quality of whichever channel you were to pull the signal from.

nevermind i was busy lookin at the circuit city amps when i found a really nice one from wal mart that is a 1 channel sub only.

Im gonna look at other threads for this too, but i can add an extra amp on top of the stock right i jus need to get that converter to rca from radioshack right>?

correct, although, some of those cheap amps have been known to have he +/- inputs on them as well as rca. so you may not even need the convertor.

i take it you have the stock system! still don't worry about any thing else just get you a good deck and work front to back.you can do it chep still if you know what your looking for. your better off that way trust me you can put subs in but you will be destorting when you want to turn the bass up. and yes your talking about getting a amp but why blow your money on a crapy amp and think your bumpin when your not.

this is what i got i know it's not the best againts all these ballers out here but my crap pounds for me kenwood deck don't know the mod# but cd bosten spekers in the doors came like that when i bough the car. i put the deck in piener 6/9s with a 80 wat fasgat punch and 2 memfes 12s with a 200 wat fasgat punch and i seld the car it pounds. so don't worry about the bass get the highs worked out first  :laser:
