Hey guys whats up. so i just got my 1996 eagle talon tsi about a week about now, but i knoticed i have to press really hard on the gas pedal, is the stiffness adjustable? or is there something wrong?

Usually it will be the cables are old ans sticky on the inside. Sometimes a little white lithium spray will loosen them up. sometimes the plastic liner inside will wear out causing the cable to jam inside also. You could also have a problem with the cruise junction box.

I would start by searching the forums for this answer:

Let me google that for you

There are several reason why this can happen. TB cable, cruise control cable, binding of the cable, melting of the cable casing, Throttle body rebuild needed.

In one case, I have had a bad ground cause this problem. The car was grounding out through the TB cable and got hot enough to melt the casing. Come to think of it, I cant remember if this was on a DSM or not....I figure it can still happen.

Most of the time its as simple as getting a NON-cruise TB cable and calling it a day. I had the exact same problem when I got my first Talon, got a 1g cable from JNZ and fixed the problem (in your case a 2g cable).

sweeeet, hopefully its something easy and cheap to fix. my talon is sitting ### im waiting for the tranny to rebuil, and thats already going to cost me a paycheck :banghead: and it kills me everyday driving off to work watching her sit on the curb while i drive away in my retired aunts 06 accord :boring:

I agree with the cruise control being the issue, i had the same problem with a stiff pedal, and it turned out the springs in the cruise control box were all worn out. I eliminated the cruise control with a new throttle cable and its butter.
