idles high/no power and stiff gas pedal

Just bought a 92 laser with a 4G63 and autp tranny....idles at around 2500rpms and I can floor it and it will accelerate as if I'm barely touching the gas, and the pedal feels stiff...I think its ruining the tranny because u can fell the tranny kick down as I come to a stop...please help I'm new to the dsm scene...thanks

Is the throttle cable stuck? Have you inspected the throttle body,

1g (90-94) cars are notorious for having issues with the automatic trans computers. This could be ## issue with it shifting hard. As far as not having power and stuff this can affect it well as the power is put through the trans. But a big thing to look at as well would be coolant temp sensors. They would also give you a kind of hard start condition as well.

Thanks guys...its a pain to drive like this...and the throttle body is fine...not sure what it is. No check engine light

we are asking you about the throttle cable , did you check that if its not stuck ? it can be stuck without you seeing it , you have to look closely

also how does the car rev when its on Neutral?
