Hey guys im new here but i got a question and i hope this is a good place to get answers. i have a 98 eclipse gs 420a non turbo, and i cant get it to start. when i try to crank it, it turns over but wont fire up completly. my battery is fairly new and all the electrical stuff seems to be in line. Its kinda like the tank is empty, but its full... i thought it would be the fuel filter, changed it and still the same thing. i was thinking it might be the fuel pump itself but im not entirely sure. any help?

What is the best way to check those? i don't have any kind a reader to hook my car up to

I had my fiance listen to the fuel pump when i tried to start it, she could hear the pump build up pressure. I was looking around and other people were saying that it might be the ASD. and to maybe help out the situation i will tell what happened. I was driving down the road and it started to jump slowly and when i came to a stop, when i pushed the clutch down, i lost all the power. I tried to restart the car and nothing happened. It acted like it wanted to crank but no fire, then came the costly tow truck and me scratching my head.
