canada,
All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

If you pressure washed it, you might have damaged the wiring to the Crank Angle sensor and/ or Cam angle sensor as well. If the ECU does not receive signal from both it will cause the car to crank and not start. In other words, if you are getting spark you may not be getting fuel, and you won't get fuel if the ECU does not get the signal from both Cam Angle and Crank angle sensors in which then it signals the fuel pump to turn on.

-Check your wiring for Cam and Crank Angle sensors.
-Check MPI/Mfi relay (located behind the passenger side center console quarter panel)

Good Luck.

Still trying to figure mine out. I replaced my resistor pack and still no go. I put a known working CAS in also and made sure timing was correct again. I also made sure the timing mark on the cast was for TDC. I am totally lost. I am sending my ECU back to ECMlink to have it inspected but I still have my old ECU that worked last year when the car was started last and still no spark or injector pulse with it.

I had a walbro 300 fuel pump that I thought wasn't working so I replaced it with a walbro 190 that I knew was working

Yes. Connect to Ecu, start a stream, open the Ecu config live tables go towards the bottom and click the tab on the left side of the page that says misc. it's at the top to the left I think the second option. It says diagnostics above it I think.

Hope this helped. Gl

I am also goin to check that my next day off

Also I know this is a little off topic but as far as I know my car is the lowest mile 1g dsm and I was curious how much you guys would think it is worth

New update I hooked up dsm link and turned my fuel pump on and it kicked on so I turned my injectors on one by one and none of them kick on so my injectors won't kick on any tips on what could be wrong?

Your crank sensor controls spark. Your cam sensor controls injector pulse. the crank sensor will also be used to signal when to turn on the fuel pump. When ecu gets signal from the crank sensor it turns on the fuel pump.

You cant physically see a bad sensor unless it melted inside or something very unusual happened to where you can see physical damage. You need,a volt meter to check if your cam sensor is working right.

This, works for both cam and crank sensors.>>> Three wires 1(ground. 2(5v reference signal from ecu. 3(return signal to ecu.

Confirm 1&2 then check 3. When operating correctly there should be 5v on 3 when metal plate is not between the sensor. And when metal plate passes through it should ground out-drop to 0v.

You can also check for injector pulse by taking a gauge light bulb and touching/hooking the wires to the injector pins on the harness side. If light flashes continuessly it would mean they are pulsing which should indicate a working cam sensor.

When cranking with a good crank sensor you should see revs on your tank and your fuel pump will turn on. Assuming a good pump anyways.

I am currently having the same problem please bump

I'm gona try a injector resistor pack tonight I rechecked the injector pulse with a diode test light and I do have injector pulse just no voltage to 3 of my injectors which is weird.... but wiring is good for sure so it really can only be the resistor pack

I just switched out my resistor pack and I still can't find my problem I also know that none of my injectors have a pulse any ideas

One thing I am going to try tomorrow is I know my temp sensor is unplugged and I have read that if that isn't plugged in then that is an instant no start. This would be something to check for everyone having the problem. I will update more tomorrow to let you guys know if that fixed my problem or not.

is there something that happened to all of our cars or what? because im having the same problem, no fuel pump no fuel injector pulse and no spark..... please stay updated i really wanna get my car running.... i feel as if something in the air did this.

thanks
dustin

Well I plugged in the termo sensor and still no go. I sent my other ECU that has ECMLink back to ECMLink to havit it checked out. Right now that is the only thing left on my car to check. I am getting fuel to and through the rail but no injector pulse and not spark. I will update once I find out about my ECU.

Fixed the problem it was a bad wire to the injectors but now my car shakes while idling my buddy told me it was because I have balance shaft deletes but please chime in and let me know what u think

Sorry for another "no start" thread.

bought a 95 gst that doesn't run (avatar pic). owner claimed it is the crank sensor.

I changed out the crank sensor and the cam sensor, put in a new battery and a new set of NGK spark plugs. I found remnants of balance shaft belt so I also put a new one in and timed everything.

the crank gear did not have any timing marks so I used a long screwdriver in spark plug hole 1 to determine top dead center.

The fuel pump is working and there is pressure at the fuel rail.

all 4 spark plugs have spark, (I tested them outside of the engine)

Timing appears to be correct

The only engine code at the start was P0340 (cam sensor) and I have replaced it. the cam sensor and crank sensor are receiving power. (tested with voltmeter)

no more engine codes, and the car just cranks and cranks but won't start.:banghead:

thanks for some insight. I can provide pictures if that will help.
