Starter with 6 bolt?

I searched around and never found a clear cut answer. I just dropped a 6 bolt in a 2G AWD shell I picked up. I have a bundle of 6 bolt AWD and FWD starters sitting around here but do not have any 2G units. The car did not come with one either. Will the 6 bolt AWD starter work with the 2G trans or do I need to locate a 2G starter to make it all work?

Hit up an Autozone/O'Reilly's/Advanced Auto/whatever and see if their parts numbers are the same. If not, see if they have both on hand to do a side by side comparison. The other option is check the Mitsubishi parts program (can't remember the name; it's on the DSM service manual cd's and can be downloaded from 3Si.org).

From my basic research with www.car-part.com, they appear to be different, but not to say it won't work.

True, I looked it up at mitsubishi yesterday and confirmed differenes.
