What are the advantages of this set up, besides the compression ratio (I'm only shooting for 280-300hp so it's not necessarily about hp gain) , and what exactly can I expect to feel? As in more torque, or more top end? Im curious:D
 
The 2G head has smaller intake ports and a more gentle angle where the port curves down towards the intake valve. Theoretically this should create more velocity of the incoming air thus giving you better midrange torque and make the engine a bit more responsive.

The 1G head has larger ports which should allow for more top end pull.

If you want to use the 2G head you will need to have the holes for the head bolts/studs drilled out to accommodate the larger 12mm bolts/studs that the 6 bolt block is threaded for.

If I were you I'd stick with a 1g head. To me theres a big difference in power up top. If you want the best of both get a cyclone manifold for like 50$ and hook it up using the tech guide.
 
I love the idea of the cyclone and just the overall look of it, I don't mean to ruin the idea but don't the cyclones flow the same if not a little less then a plain intake? I know how they work but if all your doing is essentially closing off flow to the intake It would seem to make less power and once the flaps open then it would make power as originally intended. I know Mitsubishi wouldn't have used it if it didn't work but it just seems a little redundent. Make a dyno pull at stock boost and then double the boost and try it. Same concept, atleast in my head although I can be very wrong. Wouldn't there also be more to worry about with this manifold as in boost leaks and linkage operation?
 
I have a SBR stage 3 head with stock cams, (DUMB I KNOW) I ran out of money. On stock boost it gets snappy really only at top end were as now running 18-20 from 3800 to just shy of redline it pulls unbeleiveably hard, driveability is fine. Overall a 1g head will give u more top end power and turbos favor larger ports to breath. I know if said this a few times before but with the SBR head a mbc and a 2.5-3inch exhaust my car made 218hp and 219 torque. 15-16 psi and 160k on the bottom end. I didn't even get to do a boost leak test before I could dyno it. my best 1/4 mile stands at 14.1 @ 101mph. Traction is the biggest issue, I need slicks.
 
The cyclone has dual runners, one for lowend and one for topend. So basically what the first set of runners does is give you a huge increase in lowend-miderange hp/torque and makes the turbo spool faster. Then the 2nd set of runners gives you the same topend as a stock 1g intakemanifold.
