The guy i bought my car from said that it had a cracked head so he put a 7 bolt head on the engine should i be concerned about this? is it good, bad? will it perform as good as the 6 bolt head.

You referred to the head as a 2g head. Then you stated the seller said its a seven bolt head. The 92.5-94's were 1g 7 bolts. An easy way for you to tell is look at your thermostat housing. Three mounting bolts an thermostate in upper neck=1g. Four mounting bolts and thermo. in lower neck=2g (95-99).

ps. you will have no problem with flip floping the heads around. I run a 2g head on my 6 bolt and have put 1g heads on some of my customers 2g cars. Just to put a 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt you must drill the physical head bolt holes through the head larger, so the larger head bolts/studs will fit through (6bolt=12mm, 7 bolt=11mm.

There is no problem putting a 2g 7bolt head on a sixbolt, however a 2g head flows about 60% of the air that a sixbolt head dose, so yes it will hurt you HP.

I have no clue where you have HEARD that. Yes 1g's have larger (taller) runners then 2g's but 2g's have better velocity. I ran a 2g stock head (with crower 64414's) switched to a 1g set-up and noticed alittle difference maninly in topend on my 16g. Then put back on my 2g head that I ported intake runners to a 1g manifold. This was a much bigger a$$ dyno improvment over the 1g. I reached the limits of the stock 1g intake manifold on my 60-1 setup. The power band was starting to level off around 6500rpms (turned my 12.01 shifting @7k rpms as to 12.5 was best shifting at 8500). I installed the forrester and fixed all that. So as to your 60%of the air.....On my T66 I have been flowing 65lbs easily. If you look at the "stage 3 or 4" heads shop sell, they are 2g heads.

I have those numbers on paper from not only my flow bench, but my dyno as well......that I own in my machine shop. The 2g head flows far less air and is very, very poorly designed. If you are having power problems with a 1g head you need to look else where. I have gained more than 60 horse on customer cars just bolting on a stock 1g induction setup. Yes the 2g heads have better low end velocity, however that head is maxed out far sooner than a stock 1g head, and that's before you ad over sized valves and port the head. So in short lets just agree to disagree, I will give people the facts and you can give people your personal experience with your car.

Does a 1st gen 7bolt head flow just as well as a first gen sixbolt head or are they exactly the same.

They didn't change the heads until 6/94 when they when from 1g to 2g in the plant. So yes, they are the same.
