Squealing when slowing down?

Don't know how to explain this, BUT. My car is auto awd, so here we go. I'll accelerate at a normal pace and let go of the gas and I hear what sounds like a brake squeal, then I hit the brakes and no noise difference, and when I get slow enough, the car shifts and the noise stops. I'm not even exactly sure how these auto trannys work, cause I'll take off from a stop and sometimes it downshifts when I'm already going 10mph. I know its not the brakes, its something between the driveshaft, transmission and that whole crap. Ideas? Is something broken or just need some wd-40?

Sorry, but I can't help you on the auto tranny aspect, but as for this noise it could be one of a million things... Do you notice it in a specific gear? Perhaps try driving in 1, 2, then D. (not sure the designation of the DSM auto trannys)
Check your suspension and general drive terrain. Make sure the hubs (up/down shake on wheels) and tierods (left/right shake on wheels) are in good shape. Do you notice any pulling of the wheel or vibrations while driving?

I'll do the tests tomorrow, and the car has shaken on the highway since I got it, that's about it. I might actually go check now. I'm hooking up a sweet LED kit I got inside the trunk

Tested it out and no noise this time o.0. It did it for a good 15 minutes straight. Tricky talon.

Alright. It's back. I did a visual inspection and couldn't see anything strange. I know my brakes are running low, but would something in there only make noise above like 10mph and the noise not change when I hit the brake pedal? Also, is it bad for me to life the back end of the car and spin the tires? Idk how awd works and all. Thanks

Check the fluid in your transfer case. Mine made some god awful noises on deccel before it finally failed.

Oh god. How do I do that? And what kinda fluid needs to go in there?

Jack the car up, crawl under and find your transfer case. In the front of it there is a bolt. Take that out and stick a piece of wire in there to see where the fluid is at an how it looks.

Alright, will do that tomorrow. Am I safe to drive with this noise? It honestly just kind of sounds like bad brakes, but like I said, pressing the brakes makes no difference.

By the way, when I put the car in drive or reverse from park, there's a loud and metallic sounding CLUNK from under the car, don't know if that's part of the issue? Its done that since I got it.

The clunk could be anything from bad Roll mounts to a bad U-joint. A bad U-joint will also screech sometimes. Really hard to say until you get under the car

Alright, I'll get under there tomorrow, I'll take pics too and post em here cause I have no idea what I'm doing having this driveshaft and all . I should be able to notice anything major

You wont notice a u-joint unless you check for play in it.

Should I just grab the u-joint and shake it around?

Just got under there and moved the unjoint around and didn't seem to have any play. It makes the noise after maybe 10 mins of driving. If I had to guess it sounds like its coming from the back and happens at low speeds.

Help! Its doing it full-time now. Its not really a squeal as much as it is a chirp. It sounds like woop break woop break woop break woop but high-pitched and really fast. What bot do I loosen on the read diff to check/fill fluid? and lwhat about the u-joint? I moved it and the whole drive shaft would move, the u-joint seemed pretty solid itsself.

I've gone almost a month without having any issues (I changed the rotors and pads in the mean time). I recently repaired an exhaust leak and I was testing to see if it would come back with some spirited driving. hitting max boost and slowing down. and repeating. After doing this, I noticed the noise has returned. In the mean time, I drove the car to 6 hour round trip then right after drove the car to Ohio and had no issues until now. It seems to happen after driving the car for some amount of time, and perhaps only with spirited driving. The noise seems cylical because if I had to describe the volume, it would look like a cosine, with its lowest point being 0. Not sure if its brakes, and if it is, maybe caliper? I'm thinking drivetrain, but know nothing about the whole AWD situation. The noise isn't ear piercing, and can barely be heard over music at an enjoyable volume. It happens on decel from like 25mph and the noise stops at around 5 mph. When accelerating, it happens until 5mph and goes away until decel again. The behaviour just doesnt make sense to me, if it did, I wouldn't be thread bombing. Please help me avoid catastrophic failure

Same pattern, but happens at the speeds listed and its much higher pitched. Being that our cars are smaller, I think that's why. Might also explain the clunk I have when putting the car in gear sometimes. How severe is it if it is the u-joint(s)?
