Backfire when slowing down

Whenever i slow down to a stop it back fires a little. Does anyone know what causes it to backfire like that? I heard it could be a possible exhaust leak but idk

Car backfiring is generally caused by raw fuel being burned off in the exhaust system. You may be running a bit rich.

Is your BPV vented or recirculated? Do you have a catalytic? Are you able to get the car tuned (like with ECMlink)?

Had the same problem.Turned out to be a bad coil.Changed the coil and problem was gone.So what I'm getting at is it sounds like a spark issue to me.

First of all, do a boost leak, then check for any leaks at the exhaust side. Backfiring can be caused by to many thing, TPS, Exhaust Leak, Boost Leak, Spark, which can be plugs, cable or coil, also the EGR plays a little on this,,, all this can cause a rich mixture which rich is what makes to Backfire when Deceleration and Lean can cause backfire when acceleration.

How are you compensating for your vented BOV?

If you aren't compensating for it, you need to recirculate your BOV and turn it back into a BPV.

Like stated above, a boost leak test is a good idea too.

Rich tune with an exhaust leak or too little backpressure/too short of an exhaust which is allowing fresh air to be drawn into the exhaust under decel, providing the oxygen needed for the unburnt fuel in the exhaust to ignite.

Or its as simple as bad plugs or wires. Those are alot easier to start checking first. Then move to coil, if its not a spark issue then look at the over fueling issue. Could just need new plugs or have them re gaped

Also matters what type of fuel you are running and how modded the car is. Are you always mostly engine braking or do you put it in neutral and slow down with the brakes?
