Split Thrust Bearing Questions

I have a 98 GSX, from all the research I've done, is there NO real way of telling if my motor has them or not? Without taking the motor apart.
And my second question is I'm thinking about building a 95 GSX 7 bolt is the Split Thrust Bearing that Important?

98 and 99 is the split bearings. It reduces the chance of crankwalk
