speed density on a 2g help

I just got speed density for my GST as im converting to ecmlink, question is, i know i have to weld the bung on my pipe and get it as close to my throttle body as possible but what else do i need to do? just wondering because i read somewhere theres an option you can do thats different from a 1g dsm. I read it on eatsleepdsm i believe.

Pictures and what not would help as well! thanks!
 
I'm running a GM IAT sensor in the tb elbow and a Omni 4 bar Map Sensor. Tuned by My1GDSM via EvoScan/CeddyMods. Do you need pics of how it's all wired up or just placement?

i guess placement really, im getting it welded on soon and just want to show the guy what to do because me myself has no idea what to do with speed density LOL
 
All you REALLY need is the map sensor. The IAT helps to fine tune things for different weather conditions. It is not critical how far/close the IAT sensor is to the throttle body (3 inches won't make a difference), so don't over think it.

The picture he posted is a GM MAP sensor, whereas the one you posted is a MITSU-STYLE MAP sensor. The MITSU-STYLE sensor plugs directly to the stock MDP connector, no re-wiring necessary.

Another question about placement.....in my old fbody(w/ Lt1) one of the free mods was to relocate the IAT sensor closer to the end of a cold air intake. This was to have better chance of measuring cooler air. I never tried this next one but, some guys even wired in a resistor to trick the ecu. Anyway the question is... would placing the IAT closer to cooler air be worth anything for us? (i.e behind the headlight or in the location for the stock I/C)...I guess maybe not since we already have control to setting the tune.

Okay cool thanks thats good to know, just thought of another thing, theres a bolt that comes with the iat sensor, where does that go? Do i screw it on before it gets welded or what? Just confused me
 
I mounted my iat coming right out of the intercooler. That's where my tuner recommended it.

Hmm I'm not sure why he'd recommend it right off the intercooler. Theoretically, it is best to place the sensor as close as you can to where the air is entering the engine. This is because the air inside the intake system will heat up as it travels (moreso with a slower moving intake charge), due to under-hood temperatures and the heat produced by the engine. This heating effect can be tuned out in ecmlink to a certain degree, but to make things easier and more accurate, I would install the sensor near the throttle body.
 
Hmmmmm I don't recall having a bolt with mine. What size? Where did you get your sensors from?

Not a bolt im sorry a nut that screws into it, i got it from ecmtuning

Yeah imma put mine near the throttle body pointing downwards

the nut in the middle of this pic what do i do with it? screw it on before i weld it onto the pipe? or what?

That is a weld-in bung. You need to drill a hole in the intake pipe so the bung sits just inside of it, then weld the bung to the pipe. After it cools off, install the sensor into the bung. Do not weld the bung with the sensor screwed in...
