I'm trying to hook up my map sensor from ecmlink and I checked out the different options as far as its mounting/hook up to the IM goes so I decided to take what would be the "middle ground" according to ecmlink's page. Ive mounted the sensor on the firewall and i'm trying to keep the vaccum line short and direct as possible with no T fittings. Is it is it ok to hook it up to the "P" port on the manifold or should it be somewhere else?? I assume it should be reading boost pressure so this spot made sense to me (plus its really the only open spot I have where I won't have to T.

I mounted mine on the firewall as well. And from what i've been told is that the "p" nipple is not a good source because the flow of air in the throttle body is not always constant, therefore its better mounted after the TB.. And as bad as it'll look you'll have to t into your fp line! I plan to remedy this myself by buying an JMF intake manifold LOL
 
If I'm gonna be stuck doing the T, is it ok to T off of the line going to the blow off valve??

No that line should be left alone. I know they only recommend using no more than a foot of line but u might have to go a bit longer. I just wonder if vac line longer than a foot messes with the efficiency of the map sensors logging capabilities.. I t'd it into that fp line, and i hate it because my boost gauge tees into that also. Looks like garbage but it does the job LOL
 
Well hey, whatever gets the job done gets it done. I was just making sure I wouldn't be hurting anything. Had u had any issues with your set up? I think rather than t'ing the fpr vac line twice, I will run the fpr and map from that line, leave the bov line alone. And run the boost guage off of the p port. Sound good? Hopefully the p port can at least decently run the boost guage. I'm really trying to avoid getting into t'ing multiple times on a single line

I dont know for sure about the boost gauge off the p. Nothing wrong with trying it though, but I figure the same rules would apply as it does to the map sensor. Ive never heard or read anything on it so i really cant say.. And no I havent had any issues with mine. I just cant wait to get the new intake manifold. They come with 4 ports and thats all I need. So there wont be anything to tee off.

Haha yeah I hear you on that. When I get some money to spare I'm def gonna go jmf drag.

I just installed mine a few days ago, I pulled the IM, drilled and tapped it with a 1/8 NPT and installed a threaded T. I mounted the Omni 4 bar MAP sensor on the clutch cylinder and ran about 2"-3" of vacuum line to connect them.

Pull the intake mani and drill and tap a new source and use that, otherwise it just won't run as well as it should, trust me.

yeah that was what I was going to do at first, but to be honest, didn't really feel like going through the hassle of removing the im until I am switching it out with an aftermaket one (which should be pretty) soon. So this is just to "hold me over" for the time being. I def value doing things right though

The MAP sensor hookup to run Speed Density is extremely important. Do not "T" into anything else to provide the MAP sensor signal. The delay will reek havoc on your SD operation.


There are a couple options depending on your car:

1. Install the sensor directly into the intake manifold. This is the most intimate connection possible, excellent for response. A few users have reported negatives in this configuration, but some report no problems at all. YMMV.

Also, as seen above, drill and tap a new dedicated boost source (that looks good).

2. Attach the MAP sensor somewhere close to the boost signal. You want a larger signal line, as as short as possible. Some users have reported negatives with a free-hanging sensor and recommend attaching it somewhere on the car.

2G: ECMlink happens to sell an MDP adapter piece which provides another dedicated boost source. You can see it's a RRE piece, they sell it as well. The barb happens to be the same size as the OMNI 4-Bar sensor, for convenience. (And I actually typed up this whole response before realizing you were a 1G, but I'll leave this here anyway I suppose)

All i did was use the P port on my throttle body for my bov then i used the front nipple on the IM for my map sensor. I had it hooked up first to the P port but once i switched it i noticed a little bit of difference. Not to big of a difference to hinder my bov from working.
