my eclipse is overheating i get steam coming out the coolant reservoir. i bought a new thermostat, new radiator cap, and i bleed the system (i burped it) and it still does it. i took the thermostat off and i filled the car with water with thermostat housing off to check if the water pump was flowing. but i didn't know what to look for when i turned on the car. what hose will the water come out of when i do that i don't have any smoke coming out of the exhaust but I'm going to do a compression test on it tomorrow and i will check the water pump again at what psi should the compassion be at

thanks

mines was the water pump....ok go to ure car and grab the water pump pulley(while engine is off!!!!!!) and see if u can move the pulley in any directions.... if u can ure water pump is bad...... also mine spurts out white smoke out of the exhuast pipe when reved.... i would recomend reving with a blown water pump.... if u do have one.... another option if it is not an water pump and u checked everthing else i would go with a head gasket... check it make sure its in good condition.....
lates man
hope i got some info to ya :talon:

how hard is it to move the pulley if the belts are on

thanks

radiator is good

im going to install a new water pump on today

does any one have any sugestion or tips on how to remove and install it

thanks

i know that its the water pump.

i went to drain the radiator after a drive and the water was cold coming out of the radiator and it was steaming hot out of the radiator cover

i was going to change the water pump and i saw that you have to remove the alternator, power sterring pump, timing cover, crank pulley, motor mount and all belts

does any one know how to avoid any steps

sometimes if ure lucky u may be able to get it by taking the front tire off and going through the hole in the wheel wel... idk if that will work on a talon or what ever u got i have to do my pump soon to so i think im going to just remove all the shit and do the way the hanes manual says......

hope the tire way works it sounds easier...... let me know on how it goes... :talon:

you know its the water pump if it doesnt matter if your moving or still or even with both fans on in the car your temp keeps rising a ridiculously fast rate. your coolants just sittin still what you wil get is cool water in your radiator but like really hot boiling water in your motor. if your car isnt smoking or you coolant isnt looking like chocolate milk them the head gasket shouldnt be a tfault but a compression test wouldnt hurt at all
