I'm cursed again. Need to replace the dishwasher at my rent house. The counter has been installed over the lip of the dishwasher. It has a tile floor in front of it about 1/2" thick. The legs have been adjusted all the way up. Now what....any suggestions before I destroy this countertop?

That sounds like a nightmare. Is there any way to remove some of the tile cleanly?

Is the counter top high end or just a cheap rental type counter top? It might be a choose the least painful (for your wallet) option.

any tile removal will be messy for sure and not look good. Its cheap countertop so I'm going there just not today. if I break it i'm gonna be pissed. makes the job alot longer. HOnestly needs a kitchen update but I'm not putting tons of money into this rental

I worked on (and fixed) my washing machine.

I'm a little "odd" I am very keen to differences in sound. I was sitting here and the washer was running and I was like "That sounds different"

I walked in and sure enough something didn't sound right while it was (trying to) agitate. I basically already knew the problem, because its not the first time this has happened.

Basically there is a shift actuator that goes bad on this about twice a year at random times. To verify for sure it was that, and not an issue with the actual agitator, I tricked the washer into thinking the lid was closed and watched it and sure enough it just wasn't moving right.

Well, being I know this is a thing that goes bad randomly, I always keep a new one on hand. I let the washer finish, emptied it, pulled it out and tilted it backwards, changed the actuator, put it back on its feet, slid it back to the wall, ran it through a calibration mode, then put it in a manual mode to put it to agitate, and fixed.

Took a total of 15 minutes. I already ordered another shift actuator to have on hand. $40.

A lot of other people would have just went and replaced their washer thinking it was bad. I'll spend $80 and 30 minutes a year keeping mine running instead. I've probably changed this thing 15 times now. The washer is every bit of 10 years old.

Even my dryer I have had over 12 years now. I put a heating element in it. A thermostat, and a timer in that time. Sure beats the price of a new one.
What washer do you have? I recently replaced the water valve inlet assembly on my new GE. You shoulda heard the crazy sounds it was making! Only two years old. I thought it was the arrest hammer at first but after that didn’t fix it did a quick Google search and yah, should’ve done that first.

Laminate or solid surface top? What’s there for a backsplash?

laminate. Cheap stuff with a built in lip. tile backsplash but i doubt I will need to deal with it. I think I can lift the front. I think I'm going to cut this old one out so I can expose the underside and see if I can unscrew anything. Otherwise I'm gonna muscle it and if it breaks it breaks.

Check out this badass kitchen we redid.. when the wife said she wanted red in the kitchen I about choked but, after I saw what she had planned it looked pretty good… Whatta think..??(keep in mind this is a woman who likes pink and purple, hence the colour of the spare bedroom which I hate)..

I think the red paint is cool, but the accent of slate backsplash and big panel countertops with the bullnose edges really works great.. you can take a turkey out of the oven and set it on your counter.. notice the pic of the window sill..?? Since we were installing the backsplash I added a little bit on the depth of the sill, so it will hold more sponges or soap or scrubbers or whatever the hell piles up there..(and it ALWAYS does).. wife and I did all the work ourselves including the crazy angled floor.. anyhow, went to the depot earlier, come out with map gas tip,a new pencil tip soldering iron and some other crap, and my nice little DSM decided to not start for some reason.. tried a few times after opening the hood and poking around at things it started.. come home to find out that ants had found a root beer glass I had left in the bedroom.. sweet
Anyhow there’s some pics of the kitchen, we like it.. it’s the red room.. we have a red room, a black and white room, a blue room, a pink room, a brown room and a white room.. so when I ask where something is, I get a colour instead of a name.. we giggle about it..REDROOM,REDUM.. LOL

Why don’t you use some Jack set up or spreader to get under the lip on each side of the washer and peel up the counter top enough to pull it out

Thats where I'm headed next. Just not sure if that may damage the countertop. I still have to get the new one in also without damage

My pool remodel is finally coming to an end. All the repair work and prep is done, now I just need to spray 12 gallons of Sherwin Williams Macropoxy and 10 gallons of Sherloxane. Then I need to retile the waterline. I want my summer back.

The soul-sucking never ending pool renovation project is close to done. Just two more coats of epoxy then retiling the water line and it's ready for water again.

Made 133hp LOL
Took my neon to the dyno to get the cam gears tuned and find out what the motor is doing. It picked up some good power in the mid range with cam tweaks but there is clearly a flow restriction since power plateaus at 5,600 and peak power should be past 6,600. I think it’s the catalytic converter, which is rattling more than ever, so that needs to be addressed. It also misfires bad now, so it may be hurt as a result. I’d estimate another 20-25hp on top once it’s running right, fingers crossed the misfire is ignition or something.

How’d it go with the dishwasher Pauley??

87 Escort GT with a list including no start. Removed an ancient alarm and it runs with throttle. The pump with key on sounds like it jumps around so that’s one of the things in the list. Its a rough one but I’ve never seen one in person.

Reluctantly I need to do something with this 2004 montana minivan I have. The teenager lost every key to it. Any tips on what to do? Car is open. I just need a way to rekey/program or bypass all that stuff. If its gonna be like 200$ this car may be headed to junkyard.

Pull a door lock and take it to a locksmith unless it uses a different key for the door than the ignition. That's what I did on the White Auto DSM. Cost me $40 and about 20 minutes and he put my door lock back together too.

My neighbor drove THROUGH the garage door and hit my MR-2 on Saturday. I finally got the door tracks repaired enough to get one of the doors open and get the cars out, but now I have 5 cars on the street.
I also worked on this pumpkin today.

The problem is this era of GM vehicles had PK3 keys and you need a key that is already programmed to be able to program another one to start the vehicle, unless you have access to a scanner.

You could probably also get it "tuned out" if someone has something like HPTuners.

Picked up a big mistake after selling my 1st gen Cummins.
2003 tundra 4x4 with a rusty frame😔. Hopefully Toyota replaces it under safety recall.

I worked on my house. I did some garage cleanup. I ripped down some wood paneling. I fixed a drain issue. I added an exterior outlet.

Lastly I did a silly project.

2010 S63. The plastic sender cracked, was leaking fuel onto the felt under tray and it’s been that way for awhile considering the connector pin rubbers. The sound deadening below the seat but above the aluminum cover was soaked 😳. Just a big old mess waiting to happen.
Also one of our customers two classics. Same lawyer. Same combo. Red/white top. One a 60’s Mustang one a 68 Cutlass. Both 👌. Just installed a “retro” digital radio in the Olds.
