I logged my car earlier today to find that I still have a knock problem. I have been dealing with this for quite some time. I believe it is phantom knock. It happens randomly and will shoot up to 43 counts (max). Can someone confirm my suspicions.

You check your exhaust and make sure it wasn't hitting anywhere or anything else against the motor? Do you have solid motor mounts? I get knock in between gears but it is the motor shifting on the solid mounts. It seams awful hi on yours though I would check exhaust system check for stuff banging motor and make sure the mounts are all tight.

crashman1972, yes I do have solid motor mounts. It does buck when I shift gears sometimes.

I'm on stock exhaust and it does not seem to be hitting.

iugrad92turbo, where exactly was your wiring faulty? I will give that a check as well.

I have a aeromotive fpr and wally 255, but I haven't installed them yet. I am at stock boost. I want to fix my knock issue before putting anything else on my car.

I may have found some faulty wiring, thanks to iugrad92turbo. I will solder in some new wire tommorow and hope for the best. I will update this thread as I go on.

Finally figured it out! The knock sensor was mounted in the wrong location behind the block. Phantom knock is gone.

I also found some boost leaks in my fmic piping and lower injector seals. I have seen no more knock after fixing the knock sensor location and boost leaks.

Thanks alot for this pic and thread. I was having a knock issue that was driving me crazy and no matter what I did I would get the same 6-8 counts of knock from 4k-7k but my plugs showed no sign of detonation. Last night I saw this thread and ran out to my shop to find my knock sensor in that same spot at the top of the block :ohdamn: so I moved it to the correct location and the knock is gone:thumb:
