So I've been driving without a rear motor mount ...

Just like it says.
Apparently the rod that goes through the rear most mount was completely missing.
Obviously I intend to fix this. My question is, do you think I can remove the mount entirely from the car and still be able to make my daily commute?

I don't see why not since without the rod, there should effectively be no mount or support there anyways, right?

My plan is to remove the mount entirely tomorrow and then window weld that biatch up and still be able to drive the car the next day while it is still drying - out of the car.

Let me know if I should revise my plan.
Thanks.

As long as you've still got the front one, you'll be ok. Keep in mind that the extra movement might start to tear up your CV boot, but you should be fine for a daily commute.

If you are just missing the nut and bolt that goes through it, pick one up at the hardware store and put it back through the hole. I hate taking that damn mount off, so I think it would be easier to leave it on and put the new bolt through it.

I actually broke mine clean off during the summer and have been driving since then without it, I've just been too lazy to actually track down another one and install it.

Thanks for the input.
I still have the front like you said so I hope things will be fine. The reason I'm going to remove it (2 of 3 bolts already removed) is cause both my front and rear mounts are see-through. I'm going to window weld them up using 3M Windo-Weld Resealant Part No. 08634 (different than the pics I've seen on the net, but its still windo-weld right?) and take care of my motor mounts for good.

I removed my rear motor mount yesterday and layed down the first of 2 layers of Window-Weld. Today I'll load up the rest of the mount and probably reinstall on friday/saturday.
What was interesting was how smooth the ride is now with the mount out altogether, go figure, I also appreciate the fact that there is ZERO clucth chatter now - I hope I can keep that when I put the mount back and window-Weld the front mount as well. But what was also of note was that the mount itself was in PERFECT condition. Hardly even dirty. Kind of odd for a car with 96k miles and a motor that bounced all over the place. But maybe that can be attributed to the front mount which is literally obliterated.

Well the install went great. The front mount is about a 10minute job to do, excluding the drying time for the Window-Weld of course. Very simple.
A trick I used to reinsert the pin on the rear mount though was to thread the mount on the bolt BEFORE bolting it back down. I tried for about an hour to get that damned bolt in before I finally unbolted the mount again and threaded the bolt first. It was kind of strange I had such a hard time cause I could get tonnes of light through the mount, screwdrivers and pencils etc would fit through it fine - but not the bolt no matter how much lowering and lifting of the engine I did.

Long story short:
Front and rear mounts window-Welded with success. The ride is now very secure feeling, though a hell of a lot more vibrations under 950rpm and none above 1000rpm. It's neat until it makes your entire dash creak and whatnot. I'd hate to see how this would be with my balance shafts removed.

just curious. but what is the tensile strength and shear strength of window-weld

You sound like an engineer. Try looking it up on their website, but I wouldn't bet that it'll be there.
