so i got a problem

i have an 1g eagle talon tsi fwd. so a couple days ago i was horsing around on it and wanted to see if it could burn the tires( i just got it a week ago). i poped the clutch at 4k and it spin and proceeded to pour smoke i thought i blew the motor, it turns out i blew the oil filter seal my question is what caused it to do this?

The car was punishing you for being immature and retarded with it. Do all proper maintenance before you start abusing it.

When you act like a dumbass your car is going to tell you that your being a dumbass by breaking, and your lucky it wasn't the motor. The oil filter seal was the weakest point in the setup and it blew, once you replace it and you start acting like a jackass again then the next thing that breaks will be the weakest. The rubber on the seal was probably old and rotted (stiff) so while you were mashing the gas your oil pressure increased. The increase in oil pressure found the weakest point of that seal and POP!

Maintenance before mods and before beating on your car. If somethings old, corroded, beat, destroyed, or just doesn't look right it needs to be replaced or at least monitored. That 1g is 20 years old so treat it like a 20 year old turbo car and take care of it...

yea i was an idiot and after this scare i plan to baby it and completely look the motor over. A couple of days before this happend i was coming back from school and as i jumped on the freeway my oil pressure gauge quit working could it possibly be a clog somewhere? or is it just because i was raping it

ah i see. after i saw that i didnt blow the motor it took me 4 hours to find where the leak was coming from. about 3 hours and 50 min of it was thinking about should i turn the motor over or shouldnt i

In reference to your oil pressure gauge; Check to make sure the wire on the oil pressure sending unit didnt come off. It is located on the oil filter housing.

1 : The Oil pressure gauge is notorious for losing a good connection. Check the clip wire for play and make sure it's on the pressure sending unit firmly.

2 : You now own a turbo DSM. These vehicles are the most tempermental vehicles, likely, on the face of the planet. If you treat them right, they'll treat you right. if you abuse them and they don't like it (some of them are masochists) they'll certainly let you know.

You're lucky it was just that. It could have been a timing belt, a head gasket, the turbo, or a plethora of other things. When I got my first DSM i abused it from time to time, and each and every time it would act FINE... until I got it home. Once, I had a flywheel bolt back out and got it home. As soon as I clutched in my driveway to stop, the bolt caught the clutch plate, locked, and my engine died. It made sure I wasn't going ANYWHERE without dropping the transmission. Luckily no damage was done, just my own stupidity for not torquing with loctite.

Anywho, treat it right. Do the proper preventive work to it before you start trying to show off. Who knows? The next time you do that, your Transfer case may be like "Yeah, No Sir" and lock up.

i checked the wire and the clip is broken, and it was a purolator oil filter that was pretty new
