dh,
Hey guys, im new to the dsm world (so far its been great!) but need some help. Ive looked on the forums for this answer and have learned a lot but still havent found an exact answer for my setup... I bought the car not too long ago and it needed a turbo... instead of the 14b i decided to buy a 16g...With my setup (stock 440 injectors, warboro fuel pump not sure what size tho yet, 16g, j pipe and some hard piping, exhaust that is basically 2.5in, and the rest stock what is the max safe boost i should run? im mainly worried about not having enough fuel but dont wanna spend any more money yet... i ran 15 with the 14b but i no the 16g will move a lot more air at the same psi.... i take care of my stuff and dont beat it up but if need be id like the power there... thanks for any help

Personally I would keep it below 15 until you could get a wideband to read your A/F Ratio, or a datalogger.

That way you know if you're running too lean due to too much air. A datalogger would be better.

I would say anywhere around that 12-14psi should keep you away from fuel cut. You do have an actual boost gauge, correct?

First thing I would look at getting now is ECMLink (Lite package would work good for you) and a wideband (I like my LC-1). Those two things will help you immensly now and in the future; they sure have helped me.

Without some sort of tuning device for adjust your fuel you would be lucky to run 14-15 on a 16g without hitting fuel cut. If you get some sort of tuning device, at a minimum something like an s-afc, you could run 18psi assuming things are in good condition.

fyi your stock injectors are 450cc, not 440cc. Also, it's spelled "Walbro".

Yes i do have a boost gauge and i do have an apex safc.. and yes i do suck at spelling but for some reason the guy told me i had 440 injectors in it but if u say 450cc then ill go with what u say cause like i said.... new to dsm world... so with the safc 15 to 18psi?

The safc does nothing by itself, you have to know how to tune with it. And to tune with it you'll need a logger.

Safe boost is only relevant to one particular setup, what works for one person/car isn't going to work for another. This is why having a logger and knowing what your car is doing is a must. Having a wideband will also only save you a hundred headaches down the road. Moving on from the ancient technology safc and elcheapo logger to something like ECMLink or even the ostrich chip burning type setups will do the same. For now I'd leave the 16g at wastegate pressure until you aquire the other parts to ensure the car will run correctly without knock and without to lean an air/fuel ratio.

take your car and get it tuned since u have an safc....although i will say my brother run 17 psi jus fine on a stock 1g.
