slough of bad luck... May replace entire block... Questions!

After replacing/re-doing/fixing almost everything that the previous owner of my Talon had done, I lost some belts, then my clutch went, taking the flywheel with it most likely.... and NOW.... My may have to replace or rebuild the bottom end of my 2g.

Basically, I've got a 1997 Talon TSI, and I have a built 1G long block basically ready to go if necessary...

My question is, what is the bare minimum I will need in order to do this?

Can I just swap bottom ends fairly easily, and just need to get a 6-bolt flywheel? Since I have a factory-spec rebuilt 1g head, would that be easy enough to pop on there as well?

Basically, what are the main differences between the 1g and 2g blocks?

I just want to know the best way to go about this with the least worry of running into problems along the way.

Can I just take out the 2g motor, rip everything off of that block, drop it onto the 1g block, and go from there? Or is there far more to it than that?

I've had this car for just over a month now... I'd like to enjoy it at least SOME of this summer before I park it for the winter :S

Sorry, I was having somewhat of a breakdown/panic attack when I posted this... A search definitely would have given me more than what I was looking for.
