Sleepy Eyes [Merged 9-7] snake snakeyes half chicklet mod

I don't know how many other people have done the "Snake Eye" mod on their 1Ga's, but it seems like a popular subject. If the mod is done correctly (removing the "chiclet" from the pass. kick panel, NOT removing the fuse) The headlight switch will operate the headlights and the popup switch will operate the popups allowing the lights to be on either up or down. This is great but has one problem, to go fom up to down you must turn of the headlights. If this bothers you as it did me then read on to learn how to fix it. To get around this you need to pull pin #1 from the back of the popup switch and tape it off. This wire sees 12V all the time unless the headlights are turned on, then it drops to 0V. For my application I tapped into the cigarette lighter for power so the switch is inactive when the key is out but active when the key is in, even if the lights are on. You can pull 12V from anywhere you choose and apply it to pin #1 and you are set to go. As long as pin #1 sees 12V the lights can pop up or down regardless anything. I hope this helps a couple people out. Any questions, let me know. ~Jonathan:talon:

ok.. i have seen the sleepy eyed look on alot of cars.. and i think it looks soo good on the 1g eclipe and talon.. i was just curious how its done.. without doing it manually every damn time you turn off your lights.. let me know please! thanks

disconnect the fuse that runs the pop up mechanism, manually put the lights up to desired height.and done. happy?

Nooo, its not a fuse, it is a chip located on the passenger side floor. Take off the black plastic heat mold, and to the right should be a bundle of wires, cut the electrical tape off and you will see a small white case, the smallest case there is. Take out the chip in the case and you will now have "sleepy eyes". To lift up your head lights, so that you can see at night, before you turn your lights on, push the button that lifts the lights, then turn on your lights. Its best to run with sleepy eyes durring sunset, when there is still enough light to see. GOOD LUCK

I too took out my fuse to just leave them there, its just easier. I also don't worry about not being able to see. I have my housings tilted higher and use brighter h4 bulbs.

i was wondering if anyone knew how to adjust the headlights, so they dont come up all the way, sorta looks like they are lazy?...many people with 2nd gen rx7's do it. thanks in advance..

i have a 1g eagle talon and i was wondering if anyone could tell and show me how to make it were i can control the movement of my flip ups?:talon:

what do you mean? do you mean control the speed they come up and what exact position they go up in ??? cuz in my talon you can just press the one little button when the lights are off and they go up and down LOL. ya know, the button right above the foglight button in the left hand side of the dash ;)

i know that.some people call it sleepy eyes where you control how far they come up.like you can have them set where they are just barely open or half way open.i have seen 1g with it done.i don't know how to do all the wiring and stuff.

You're talking about "sleepy eyes". Angel eyes is the running light ring around the lamps on BMWs.

Do a search on the sleepy eyes. No wiring involved, just a matter of removing a small circuit or diode from a harness.

if you look by the passenger side kick panel, you will see a bunch of wires. There is one that has a little white (chicklet like) plastic peace. pull that out. Now you have to push the manual headlight flip up button to make ur headlights go up. If you want the sleepy look, push the button and then where u want the lights turn the on quickly.
I like drivin around w/ the headlights on and the headlights down. It looks good, except the light sucks at night.

I pulled the little turnbuckles off the motor for the pop-ups and pulled up the head lights about 4" or so. I also didnt like the lights down. It looked ok but didnt give enough light on the road at night. I'll post a picture later when I get home to show you how high they are. They are up all the time as I have them now.

Heres a couple picts -
