Hope he doesn't mind me using his pic.

yeah u can adjust the knobs under the hood but then arent they up evenin during the day ? that just looks ### and it would be a pain in the ass to turn them by hand all the time just to get that effect. just search around and find the way to rig it up.

there is a page on www.vfaq.com that shows how to do it. i am too tired to search for it, so you can have the pleasure of doing so. i started ya in the right direction, you finish your course. :thumb:

here is what mine used to look like when i had them sleepy-eyed. I didnt like it too much but right now my friend and i are working on replacing the single big headlight housing with two smaller fog-light type lights and keep it sleepyeyed and down with a switch.

Id rather have the lights not come up at all and just shine through the clear plastic in the front. IMO that would look the best at night.

actually you could do that. Just pop out the fuse that makes the headlights go up and turn your lights on and it shines though the plastic. Some guy had it done i think possibly on here, he said that he liked it better because the lights shined more on the road like that he had a pic too.

I was thinking I could trick my brights into staying on all the time (if you don't understand me, pull a euro-flash in the driveway at night), but keeping the lights down sounds killer.

I like the sleepy eye look, it doesn't look like it's broke, and it's not as annoying as having them all the way up. I have it done on my car and all I did was adjust the knob and pull the fuse. It took about 5 minutes to do. It also helps if you have your fog lights fixed where they stay on all the time too.:thumb:

Well there is tons of ways to do it.
This is what i think is the best, because it still gives you the option to have them up, and didnt require any wire rerouting. there is supposed to be a guide on www.vfaq.com but the link has never worked for me.
So here is a picture of what i pulled, to make it easier for anyone else who wants to do it.

this is how you do it

pull the kick panel from the passenger side.
locate the big clump of wires.
in this clump of wires, there is a white resistor, its about half way up the strand. now with a small flat head screw driver, or a pair of needle nose plyers. remove the resistor.
put the kick panel back together
turn the head lights on. they should stay down, but on
to get them up, turn the head lights off, hit the button {make sure it clicks} then turn the lights on

pretty simple really
if you need pics, go to the vfaq.com page and look it up, its in there

I found it to be a pain to get out, but you pull the little resistor/diode out, from the circled white box.

can now have them up or down.

Hope this helps out anyone who was having probs, or trying to decided which mod to use to achieve this look.
and as quoted, i found out how to do it from a post by Silent2g

how well can you see at night with this mod? meaning how far do they light up the road in front of you without the auxiliary driving lights on?

dunno really, havent gotten to drive with it like that, just did it last night, and the car is still up on ramps. I dunno if people upgrade their headlights or anything when they do this, i know they clean the lenses with mothers mag polish i think? dsmtalk has a big section about cleaning the dirty lenses.

And my foglights are set to be on whenever my other lights are on(got a soft switch so it was that or no foglights at all) so i wont really know how good they work with out fogs, until i get a foglight switch

Let us know how good the vision is at night, and how far down the road the light shines in front of the car, very cool mod,,,

gotta swap the oil pan and oil return pipe, maybe the exhaust manifold. is it bad to drive with a mani with like 5 big old cracks on it. heheh can it hurt the car other than boost wise?
anyways i heard you should use mothers polish, to clean the lenses, and it makes em look real nice, for the light to shine through, and i guess you could always upgrade to brighter bulbs, but the coolest thing about the mod, is being able to have control to still flip them up, or put the diode back in for the way they used to be.
:talon:

with them down, I can't see very much. But I had an idea with doing a simple mod which may help. First of all, make sure your front light housings are very clean, I was going to take them apart and clean them, but i figured i'd never get them back together so at any rate make sure those are clean. Also, since its going through the light housing thinger.... its dimmer so I tried using my brights, but we all know that brights are focused more straight and up rather than down towards the ground. But with that in mind, I didn't have anyone flash me saying my lights were too bright or anything. So what I figured was take the bulbs out and flip them "up side down" meaning so the brights shine straight and down instead of up. I'll try this and let you know. I must say it look mean with the lights down!!! Ok well i'm going to flip the lights tomorrow and I'll post some pics or how well it lights up the road.
