cause the motor will still make them go down or up all the way. You have to disable the motor.
there is also a way to do it with out having to pull any wires called the "chiclet" mod that I have seen on here

Prob with that mod is that the stock fogs no longer work. I am trying to find a easy way around it

yea thats the down side, but i took mine out because i heard it gets more air to the smic, so it doesnt bother me

this actually sounds like a pretty cool mod
might have to try it sometime soon..does anyone
have any pics of what it looks like completed?

I would try this, but I dont like the idea of not being able to close them, I thought there was a way you could set it to a highth where you wanted them turn them on and they would only go to there and stop, then go completely down again when off.

Because to me haveing them half way up all the time like when parked will make them look like there broke or something.

i removed the light grey connector. lights still go up and down, but my power locks didnt work. I then connected it back up, and removed the white one. Same thing. Ive heard about this chiclet thing, and cant figure out what the hell you guys are talking about :shhh:
If anyone can help me or post pics, i would be very gratefull! :D

well, just after i posted, i found a pic of the chiclet, went out to my car, searched.... and couldnt find the chiclet. I think i found where its SUPPOSED to be, but it isnt there. 1991 plymouth laser if that helps

I searched this weekend for how to perform the "sleepy" or "lazy" eye mod on flip up 1g DSM's and what i found didnt really impress me. I didnt want to manually turn up the headlight motor knobs and then just disconnect the motors. Maybe I just didnt get the whole procedure but i wanted them to be able to shut all the way down and go 1/4 up and all the way up at times whenever i felt like it.

This is how I got sleepy eyes to work on my car.

1st I went to the pop up motor relay, ( on mine was called the head lamp relay or something) and found the red power wire to the relay. You have to remove the three bolts to the fuse panel and turn over to see. I then cut the power wire. So now i had two ends.

I lengthened both ends of the wire to run to the steering column where i mounted an on/off switch and attached the wires to this.

So now I can stop power to the headlight motors by breaking the circuit (hitting the switch) which therefore stops the headlights in whatever position they are at. Yes it takes a little bit of cordination but at least you dont have to manually adjust the headlights and at night you can still have them all the way up. Just turn back on the switch to have them funtion as normal. I usually turn the headlights on then shut them off and on the way down hit the switch to stop the motors about a 1/4 way up. Now with the H4 conversion i did and bluish tint shining through the lower lens doesnt look bad. Just thought I'd share this way in case you to dont want to manually control the headlgith positons. Sorry if this has already been shared, I never saw any forums on it.

If you know anything wrong with this please post. :dsm:

Also see now during the day i can have them all the way down so they dont look broken, and at dusk I can have the sleepy eyes going, and at night all the way up so that I can actually see all of the road. Thats why I did the mod this way.

I didnt see that. Interesting. But I wonder how much one of those goes for. This cost me $3.00

Listen, why would you go buying some gizmo to do the same thing for free? All there is to the lazy eye mod is a fuse. its located on the top left corner of the fuse panel under dash. I believe its a 10A. Just pull that out and then adjust your headlights manually. Besides when you pull that fuse you get rid of the anoying buzz that happens when you leave your door open with the ignition on. Try it let me know....

I want to give my 91 :talon: Tsi the sleepy eye mod, but can't find anything on how to do it. Could someone please let me know where to get the info. Thanks!

disconnect the electrical connecters to ur head light motors... they r right behind the lights just fish in there a while and u'll find them... then crank them with the little knob like right next to the connecter... u might have a black rubber cap on it... if not the knob will be red.. .can't miss it
