I bought another 14b for my 1g, got everything put together and have been trying to get it put in the car and is alot tougher than taking it out, is there a certain way it has to be installed? It seems when I get it on the downpipe I can not get the manifold to bolt on right, it seems if maybe I can push the downpipe down more I might be able to squeeze it on there..Just wondering if there was a certain order everything had to be put on or an easier way at least..

bolt it onto the manifold before the downpipe, thats how I've done mine the past 3 times. After its bolted to the manifold get someone to crawl under the car and push the side of the downpipe with there foot to get it to line up correctly

Downpipe gets bolted to the turbo after it's been bolted to the manifold...in fact, downpipe is the LAST thing.

Manifold->Turbo->Oil Lines->Down Pipe

If you have the radiator out, it will make things easier but not required.

It looks like I'll need another set, It does not look like its gonna wanna go on that downpipe at all, I got everything bolted up to but the downpipe and its looks like its gonna be a pain in my ass getting that thing to get on there...

Lol, nope I made the topic when I went to sleep last night, :mad: now I'm just bsing around with it, I'm off for today and tomorrow so I'm taking my sweet time messing with it..

I would just take off the down pipe, it would make your life easier. Whenever I do a bolt on swap I usually put all the the lines on the turbo, bolt the turbo to the manifold and the o2, then put it in as one piece, it is MUCH easier this way. But if you have the manifold in you can push it in from the bottom, just watch those lines. Oh and be careful when installing the oil return line, the bolts strip very very easily.

install the turbo onto the manifold first, but do it LOOSE. get all bolts in a few turns (dont forget the gasket) then let it hang. This will make installing the oil return much easier with some wiggle room. Alot of people torque the turbo down on the manifold then have issues with getting the oil return line bolts (both at the turbo and pan) to properly engage. Once the oil return is on, then you can torque the turbo to the manifold, and install the downpipe. The downpipe should be EASY to get on there, its just flopping around down there anyways.

The only reason I can see that the downpipe would be a pain to fit properly is if you are now using an Evo3 o2 housing on a stock styled (non Evo3 flanged) downpipe. They are set at a different angle.

At least your turbo setup is light, try holding up a HX40 with an external gated o2 housing attached (gated off o2 housing) with one hand while getting -12AN oil drain fittings to clear each other and to have the down pipe clear hanging bolts. Thing weighs prob. 50lbs then attach that with the FP race manifold. Getting a work out trying to get everything fitted properly with taking the whole setup out about 10+ times.

Single man job but 2 extra hands help out.

Yeah, once again I made a simple mistake and it made the pain a job, all is good now, very simple process once I figured out my problem :mad:...Thanks for the advice guys..
