hey i'll be installing a 14b here in a couple of weekends, but at the moment my car has a really blown t25 that passes a lot of oil. my question is, i'm sure there is (or will be) a lot of oil sitting in the LICP and/or the intercooler. i should definitely clean that out right? i know better than to take a shop's word for it but a guy said to me that there is no way to clean it out, which i say is bs. also, about how long will it continue to blow smoke after i get the 14b installed? when i start the car after its been sitting for a while the smoke is insane, but after a while it calms back down. thanks all.

When you have the turbo off just remove the intercooler and LICP. You can clean them with gasoline or some kind of solvent. Plug one of the outlets and pour some gas in and cap off the other end. You can just use rubber gloves and cover the outlet with your hand. Shake the IC pour the gas out, do this a couple times until the gas comes out clear. You definitly want to celan it as all that oil will lower the efficency of the intercooler. I noticed a difference in my old 1g after cleaning the IC.

The smoke should stop within a couple of minutes.

well, its actually kinda easy to clean the intercooler. the hardest part is getting the son of a bi*** out the first time. they decited to put a couple of bolts in some odd locations. Just pore a little gas into the intercoller and shake it up. do that a couple times. i even used a can of some carb cleaner. as for the fins. just use a pair of tweesers to straiten the fins. and some compressed air to get the bugs out. when all the oil is out of the way. it shouldnt take much longer then a couple min's for the smoke to stop..
