hey guys i bought my car with a open atmosphere BOV, its a turbo xs BOV which is extemley loud and cool... but i start the car and it runs likes crap until it warms up, sometimes stalls, and it runs crazy rich... i am thinking about goin with a stock BOV but will it handel 17 psi becuase thats what i am running now and will be it make the car run better overall??

1g bov. Cheap and effective. Crushed it can handle mid-upper 20's. The rest is rice. Don't argue just do it. :D

Get either a aftermarket BOV that can be recirculated (Greddy for example) or put a 1g BOV on. The 2g BOV leaks boost above 12psi.

I just switched to a type rs greddy style off of ebay , cost $59.99 + shipping, its great. car runs fiine, sounds just like my friends greddy type rs , i have it adjusted to flutter, its great. and you can unscrew the flange thing and use it to recirculate

whatever you do don't use that pos stock bov

VegasTSI. the "flutter" really isn't that good for your turbo, which is the entire reason you put a BOV or diverter valve on your car.

I have a stock 1g that is all polished up, I can sell you it and the flange for you to weld on your IC pipe if you'd like. Its uncrushed, completely stock and doesn't leak. You can modify it how you'd like to. Crush it, do the little kit dealy, whatever. Works better than a lot of aftermarket ones, ESPECIALLY the cheap ebay knockoffs.

well will i have to change my pipe becuase there is only one hole where my aftermarket turbo xs goes, ive never seen how any stock one looks??? Will a stock 1g BOV go right onto where my aftermarket one is?????

How do you figure its bad for the turbo , it takes the pressure out just as any other bov would. And I have an automatic which keeps boost pressure when shifting , the only time it blows off air is when I don't give it any gas

Okay Lets go through what a BOV or diverter valve is supposed to do.

You let off the gas, which slams the thottlebody closed. All the built up air pressure has now where to go. So it tries going backwards. This is bad because backwards means it's going trying to force your turbo to spin the opposite way. This is where the BOV comes in. It releases the excess pressure from the pressurized pipe, and a diverter valve than puts that air in AFTER the MAF but before the turbo. essentially displacing air that would have come through the MAF and setting all right with your ECU.

With a BOV that "flutters" all you're doing is opening and closing that valve really quick. So instead of releasing all the built up pressure as quickly as possible, you're making cool sound effects with it. Yay. Sound effects.

Lets think about the Length of time the "flutter" sounds for versus, the length of time the "Pshh" sounds for.

Honestly its not a HUGE difference, but adding the possibility for a sound effect is, well... lame.
