Should i be able to hear my bypass valve open???

Hi,

This is my first post, but i've been searching and studying for a week. I just bought a 91 Eclipse GSX and was wondering if i should be able to hear the bypass valve open when i'm under boost and let off to shift? I don't hear it at all. This car needs lots of attention and i'm slowly ironing things out.

The stock intake is designed to deaden and obscure those strange noises that might frighten common folk.

I never heard mine until I removed the silencer in the air can to improve MAF flow. Even with the silencer removed it's barely noticeable in the car.

You can test the BOV by applying -8 psi (16 in hg vacuum) to the nipple and the valve should begin to open. Or while pressure testing the intake disconnect and plug the hose and the BOV should begin to leak around 8 psi.
