Hey guys i did a clutch on a 91 gsx i put it all back together an di get that crazy sound when i got to start off in 1st. It doesn't seem to be in any other gear and what i would say that it sound like is a belt. i checked all the belts twice. I asked my dad to listen to it and when i started the car the first thing he said was he didn't like how the started sounded. So my question is just a chance that there is like a shim plate that i forgot to put in the right place when i bolted the starter back on?

No, there is no shim plate for the starter. Once the motor is running, the starter doesnt really do much. I would check that you installed the throw out bearing correctly and the clutch is properly mounted.
