I'm getting ready to put the same combo on my rebuild. Never heard of this before, so it'll be interesting to find out what people say about it.

No, you don't need that plate. I've been 100% fine for 4 years without that plate on my Fidanza aluminum flywheel.

It can't hurt but it's not required at all.

Can I ask is this on a DD or track car? I wonder how much difference it may cause, if any, getting daily abuse versus weekend hard use?
 
Daily abuse with 25+ psi. Save your money unless you really want to get buy it. You can find all of those pieces as they are OEM from an AT.
 
Just put two of these in the past 2 weekends. One in a friends 1g, one in a friend 2g. Didn't use this on either. I've also had a fidanza in my 3g for years without that plate. All of these are both DD's are see hard autox events.
 
All it would do is distribute the 29 ft/lbs across the surface. Supposivaly it prevents he bolts from galling into the flywheel which I have never seen or heard of happening.
