420A Shifting

99’ 2g eclipse wont shift into 2nd,4th & reverse unless I turn it off and put into gear SOMETIMES. had to take the trans out for throw out bearing , I put new bearing , clutch pact, master cylinder , slave cylinder , fixed the oil leak , idk what to anymore , I’m guessing it’s shift linkage but idk how to adjust it.

You most likely have something getting in the way of the shift linkage. Lower radiator hose/ intercooler piping.

This being a 420A, there isn't much to get in the way of the shift levers. It sounds you likely have a broken rubber bushing. You can check those underneath the intake pipe on top of the transmission.

Not sure if the DSM has this or if this would cause it, but 1G Neons need the crossover adjusted manually or things won't work right. There is a slot where you drop a pin on the transmission linkage while you adjust the shifter inside the cabin. See https://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t=281275

There shouldn't be any adjustability of the shifter or cables. I recommend that the OP checks his cables and bushings first.

The shifter cable itself popped off the transmission slot where it goes , I put it back and put the clip in , she’s shifting A1 now

Must've been a problem with the cotter pin or bushings. I figured it was simple. Keep on riding on!
