Hey Everyone... A little stuck, haven't had time to look at the car in depth yet, but i'll be crawling around in the snow a little later today! Heres my problem!

I was in FL for 10 days so my car just sat for this time with no use. I got back to notice my clutch a little softer than usual. I drove it home last weekend which is a couple hour drive back to my hometown. Noticed the clutch was pretty soft so I checked the reservoir to see that there was hardly any fluid left... Made sense why I would have to be pumping the clutch so it would work well.

I filled it up with brake fluid and me and my old man proceeded to bleed the clutch. I pumped it up held it to the floor and he let the air out. Have bled the clutch several times and its always worked great. Got the little bit of air out of the line and it was working great. No more need to pump the clutch, gears were shifting much better. Still unsure how the reservoir got so empty. Mystery to me.

Now it gets real crazy. I'm driving home and everythings working great. I'm feeling pretty good about life and then all of the sudden i'm about 25 minutes from home cruising at 70 in 5th gear and I go to shift gears and it feels like the shifter is just jammed in 5th gear. I pulled on it a little bit harder and was able to disengage it and all of the gears started working fine. Happened one more time about 10 minutes from home, same problem, stuck in 5th gear. Yanked a little and got it out. All the gears shifted fine again!

So now i'm feeling a little worried. I get back into town and stopped at the car wash. Spent a good 15 minutes washing it nice. Everythings working fine. I pull into my parking lot, downshift to first to park, and notice that the problem now happened with the car in first gear. So the gear is jammed and it feels really hard. The gears are suddenly way different when shifting. It feels like the gear is jammed in first but i can pull it out and jam it into 3rd and 5th with the care working. The gears feel way out of place. No possibility of getting the shifter into 2nd, 4th, or reverse but you can feel the ball on the end of the shifter trying to get there and giving a little grind like its trying to go back in but just can't make it into the gear. This leads me to suspect that there is a problem with the linkage. I'm not however sure. I've talked to a few people with different ideas but nobody else has felt the problem hands on like I have!

Couple things to note. I didn't bleed the slave cylinder like I normally do when I bleed the clutch. Clutch works fine. Even if the cars in any gear and the clutch is pushed in its definitely free wheeling and the clutch is working fine. Its definitely some kind of problem with the gear selector actually getting into the right gear. Anyway if you have ever experienced something like this or have any thoughts let me know. I'm gonna throw on my warm clothes and crawl under the bitchin thing and look for some linkage issues. Any thoughts ideas or expressions, welcome:)

Thanks for reading....I'll post more as I go.. Damn garage being hours away!!!

Im pretty new to the dsm world but was having the same issues you are having. What I found was that my master and slave cylinder were leaking. I changed them out and the clutch was working great. Then one day of course I was 75 miles from home all the sudden I could not shift. I managed to get home with not clutch. Found that one of the spring on the clutch disk had fallen out and lodged between the finger on the pressure plate and the clutch disk. Hope this helps.

One more thing. After you filled the master cylinder and cruised home was there fluid in the master cylinder when you got home.
