when i shift into every gear the shifter wants to be tough to get into gear, so i took the center console out and saw that the shifter lever (back of shifter, held on by a SNAP RING) that allows you to move the shifter left to right to switch gears has no bushing in it, its all worn out, also the thin plastic bushings are all worn out too.

so i want to replace them but dont know what it would be called.

also ordered the Symborski Shifter Kit. so that should help alot too.

I've had to tear apart my shift linkage twice now, and have seen exactly what your talking about. Best bet would be to go to a junk yard and oull one out of there. No aftermarket sells that. All i can say is that after those wear out, it is tough, very tough to shift. I did a cheap install of shifter bushings, cost me nothing actually. Check out the tech forum to see it. Try tighting up the shift linkage under the hood. Go to vfaw or search here for that. Hope you find those bushings.

I have replaced these too but I can't remember what they were called. Try calling the Mitsubishi dealership in Tallahassee, FL. I don't remember what they call themselves now used to be Tallahassee Mitsubishi . The parts manager there last time I called a couple of years ago was named Jeremy and he can find just about any part if he is still there. They are real dsmers for a dealership. I live in NV and he has helped me out finding needles in haystacks on my 93 TSI as well as saved me a lot of $$$. The phone number is 888-825-5648 and mention that you are a DSM club member which will get you 20% off. Hope that helps you out.

The ones at the junkyeard are going to be just as bad, you're better off ordering them new. The symborski shift kit will help out a lot in the meantime, though.

I'll try to dig up that part number for you.

Quasimondo is absolutely right you can spend all day looking at a wrecking yard and will have the same worn out stuff. Wrecking yards are only good for certain things.

Try JNZ Tuning.
The shifter bushing numbers for a 1989-June 1990 are:
MB580253.
I replaced these and it shifts like new again.
