shifter issue-please help

After installing a Megan Racing short shifter my shifter now does not sit neutral. It wants to sit over to the left just enough to make a very annoying 3-4 shift (car really wants to go back to 2nd). I feel like the spring was somehow changed even though I never touched it. So basicly when the shifter is in the neutral position i can not simply push it forward and backward to go into 3rd and 4th. It sort of sits in the middle of 1/3 and 2/4. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I want to say that nomal.That's how mine is and its in nertal.But u could take it off make sure it's in nertal then tear down start over

Get some pictures, what kind of car you got? Your profile is not filled out. I can only imagine you missed something in the directions. IF all else fails put the stock back on and make sure it is correct.

It cant be normal. It sat perfect before and now it doesn't. Ive re installed it twice to no avail. It is definetely something with the shifter and spring tension not liking eachother. I just dont know why that would happen

It's a 96 GSX with a built 6 bolt swap I will def take pics tomorrow

I just installed my brand new B&M Short shifter, there was no issues with leaning or anything like that. Here are the instructions. They should be similar for the megan racing.

K.Is it hard to hit 5th and reverse.

Primerplus those are the exact directions I followed but I'm going to take it apart and seriously take my tine to put it backtogether. 3rd times the charm right? Lol. And no, no issues going into any gear, just does not line up naturally.

Sounds like a tension issue. The galant has a spring around it to keep it centered, maybe add a shim?

When i bought my spyder it had some sort of shifter that was way longer than a stock shifter. i had the same problem your having when i put a stock shifter back in it turned out to be the cables. Right where their crimped became uncrimped and the cables were causing my shifter to set funny in neutral and would not go in to gears all the way. check the cables and bushings make sure you check where they connect to the tranny also. Its better to find out if you have a broken cable/bushing while its at home and not flying down the freeway .

I would check all the bushings on the lower cable. it seems like something is pulling it to make it lean to the left
