broken shifter. please help

i was pulling the shifter out of 1st gear and the shifter just fell apart. i pulled the panels and center console apart and noticed that the weld that holds the shifter to the bracket to give it leverage broke apart. i searched the forum and nothing, i was wondering if i can just weld it back together or if there is something i need to do. i posted some pics of wat it looks like. thanks for any info.

Haha, its the hot shit isnt it? Mine broke last year in the dead of winter. Wouldnt go into first, so i was trying to jam it in and it broke off exactly like yours. Anyway, i took the entire shifter mechanism out and welded it back together. 10x stronger then it was before

Yeah if you did it right, it should feel 10 times stronger. Atleast mine did. Its amazing how craptacular some of the stuff on our cars is stock.
