im a newbie to the dsm world. i love my 92 6bolt/4bolt AWD 5spd Laser:D (dont be jealous). anyway i got a quick question. i want to buy a short throw shifter for my dsm, but ive heard its not worth it, that the 1st gen dsm's shifter feel will never get better? i was considering buying and installing the brass machined shifter cable bushings and the machined base washers for the shifter plate and a smaller shift knob. please tell me if the bushings and washers are worth it? should i do both, just one or the other, or both and a short thro shifter?

Thanx for the insite

the bushings will stiffin up your shifting, It definitely helped with shifting in my car..I don't think it'd be worth it to buy a short throw shifter since 1G have one stock already.

I used the shift knob out of a 87 Honda CRX and it was even better then the 2G shift knob it had in it when I bought it, don't know about the bushing yet I haven't got mine in the car yet.

You could instead of buying a short shifter make yours a short shifter.

That link gives you the information that was posted on vfaq a very long time ago. (searching is your friend)

I would personally buy the Brass Bushing that attach under the hood at the end of the cables, then also buy the sybroski shift kit for a 1g. That should definately give you a good feel for your shifting then.
