Hi guys the problem im havening now is with the shifter or linkage, cable, bushing not really sure.but don't think the problem lies in the tranny.1st 3rd and filth feel fine.but 2nd,fourth and reverse don't feel right at all.i have trouble getting it in second and reverse mainly.the shifter feels real spongy and moves way further than it should.and it don't really lock into the gear.i mean you cant feel it go into gear like the other gears.i had an issues before and it was the clip that holds the cable where it hooks to the linkage on the tranny.ive inspected all linkage and cables and clips every thing looks good and how it should to me.i do dog the shit out of my venge.i run her real hard and put the tranny through alot of hard shifting.like when one of those Honda guys pull up next to me or tryes to fly by me on the highway.i kind of have a thing about running hondas when ever i get the chance.well just about any ricer tuner for that matter.im on my third clutch now.the stock lasted 145000 miles and my buddy burnt a new one up first day he ran it hard and it wasn't seated or broke in yet.needless to say he bought me a new clutch and pretty much put it in by his self.he knew i was really pissed.so far no problem with this one i have about 20000 on it now.the thought out bearing does make some noises when cold when its in neutral but goes away after ran a bit on when clutch is pressed or in gear.ive read that is a common problem with our tranny and thought out bearings.i really don't like how they just sit in the fork like they do.i wish they were a better design.im thinking it might just be the rubber shifter bushings.thinking of geting a set of the metal bushing shift kit bushings.so any one have this problem with there avenger on have any ideas of what is causing the shifting problem.she feels fine in gear with no grind or noises.please help!!!

Solution
you were right itnwas the shifter cable.the boot that hold the cable from moving to much was shreded.som i took a piece of hose slit it and wraped it around and hose clamped it.everything shifts fine for now.ill just have to order some new cables.thanks for the help.:)
I had that problem on my 98 gst... it was the shifter cables. They went bad, basically they were bending when i was going into those gears, 2nd...4th...rvs. I recommend getting the shifter cables replaced and while your at it, change the bushings..
