ok here we go so my old starter took a crap on me tested starter and starter turned out bad.so i bought a new starter and now i have a problem.it seems like the starter does not want to fully engage on the flywheel.the old started is a reman one and that part number matches up to the same one i just bought.so i took the starter back thinking it was defective and it obviously wasnt because even this new one is doing the same thing as the first one.so got further into it and it seems like it may be hitting on the plate between the transmission and engine.i find it very weird that old starter had no issue at all other than it took a crap obviously.the starter lines right up no fitment problems nothing at all i have checked trusted me about lke 8 times now.checked flywheel and flywheel is ok other than couple bur marks on it from starter not fully engaging.i tested the new starter also and it works fine.if anyone can give me advise it would be the greatest ever my car is a 98 gsx the last steps im going to do is grind the plate down that the starter hits on and replace the relay

I had the issue with ordering a starter from advance for my 1g where the new starter had the wrong nose section. I unbolted the nose, and mated it to the new motor and solenoid.

My car is an awd car and I just find it weird that my old starter cranked my car over fine with no noise or anything.but with the new starter it now makes noise which makes no sense because. They both have the same part number and are identical

Are you absolutely sure that you have the starter bolts all the way tight? On my last new starter I bought I had to really crank on the bolts to get them all the way tight so that the starter would sit flush. It was like the threads in the starter were not all the way cut or something, so it required some extra torque to get it all the way tight. Just a thought.... Good luck:thumb:

Yeah I'm positive that the bolts were tight the starter sat nice and flush up against the transmission I checked it from the top and bottom I'm going to replace the relay later today to see what that will do and make sure that I have 12 volts going to the starter
