Anybody have the rre's shifter bushing, I was wondering how that compared up to the symborski shifter bushing.

Did anybody have a hard time installing the bottom 2 bushings? I tried putting the flat one and the stepped one but the bolt was too short to put back on. So I just took off the flat bushing and put the stepped bushing. Anybody have the same problem? Also is this a problem if I didn't put the flat bushing? I'm about to go for a drive to test it out so I'll see how it works.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. The stepped bushing is on the (left) and the flat is on the (right):

Im just throwing this out there. the flat goes under and the step goes on top step down. You might have to wiggle it a bit to get it to set in the hole. There really shouldn't be problems with bolt length unless they are not the stock bolts.

If you are sure everything is right, post back for more help.

Yes, I did put the flat below the step. The 2 bushings on the top corners worked fine but the bottom 2 corners for some reason wouldn't work because the bolt was too short. I tried everything and it wouldn't screw on, so I just took the flat bushing and left the stepped bushing. It works fine but I was just wondering if it makes a different without the flat bushing.

well, the flat bushing is in there to keep the plate at the correct level. You might want to pull the bolts and make sure they are the same length Ive never seen nor heard of this problem before.

Im really really not trying to insult you or anything because Ive had my share of these things too and it always seems like you tried everything but maybe take em all out and check to see everythings normal and everything matches and then start again.

Oh, don't worry bro, I'm not offended :D I actually checked all 4 bolts and they are all the same. I think I might just get the same bolt but longer. So far I haven't had any problems with the flat bushings not being in place. Thanks for your help though :thumb:

i came across these cable bushings and shifter bushings on ebay that sell for 35cdn dollars each..
are they really worth it? do they make a big difference? its really pricy for things that jus look like washels....has anyone made em from like home depot or something...??

I bought some, what they do is tighten the shifter make it so there is less play in each gear..they work pretty well actually. They are more of a preference upgrade though...if you have the money I think they are worth the cash, otherwise spend elsewhere.

I just installed a 91fwd tranny in my 90fwd. Im having some issues with shifting so I got my grubby hands on a 91 shifter assembly, cables and tranny bracket.......I plan on installing them as soon as they arrive........question is though, Im using a 90 symborski shifter bushing kit right now, will the bushings fit the 91 shifter base?

Im thinking about doing the same thing, I have a 90 and im either going to go with a 91-92 tranny, or a 2G.

Could someone tell me what problems I may have with the shifter? Will I have to swap to whatever shifter and cables of the same yr tranny?

Also about the 2G tranny, how the hell would that work far as the shifter goes?

how bout I answer my own question for reference.......the 90 bushings are smaller than the 91 bushings. If you plan on putting a 91-94 tranny in your 90 as I did.....I highly recommend that you swap to the 91-94 shifter assembly, cables and tranny bracket. When I first installed my 91 tranny in my car I wasnt able to get into 1st,3rd, and 5th easily, with some cable adjustment it is possible to drive though but not the greatest. The shifter wouldnt fully engauge the gear all the time. Mind you this was using the 90 cables, shifter and tranny bracket. I will be installing my 91 shifter parts on wednesday and post an update. So far my research has shown me that the 91-94 shifter throw is shorter than the 90s as found per Vfaq.

Personally i probably wouldnt buy from Mach V due to the prices. I understand that people have to make money too but hell i own a dsm and with that being said everything should be cheaper for us. Not clowning on Mach V at all but im a cheap bastard. :D

You can find knockoffs anywhere, but the only place to find the symborski one, which comes with the machined sleeve for your shifter fork, is MachV.

will a 1g kit fit on a 2g. i accidently bid on a 1g symborski kit on ebay, not reading the title and it looks like I'm going to win it. :|

What should it matter now?? Get the 2G kit. By the way I highly reccomend any one of these shifter plate kits. I have the Energy Suspension Kit myself, but I imagine the Symborski would be slightly stiffer- whatever the case, they dramatically improve shifting accuracy and feel, IMO. I am using a B&M short shifter as well, however. :thumb:

PS: this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated
