So I was taking out the transmission and noticed the previous owner welded a washer on the post of the shift selector to hold the end of the shifter cable on. The posts are all messsed up and im going to attemp to grind the weld off carefully to see if i can slide a skate bearing on the post.

Why not use a new cotter pin or get a punch and do it right? No that would be too cool. Guess they weren't Fonzie.

So I sent Tre 2 emails since I had my mind set on shipping it to them asking what they thought. They never responded so does anyone else have some ideas?

I believe I know what you are talking about but correct me if I am wrong.

What I would do:

Hack off that "post" completely with a hacksaw.

Drill out the remaining part of that "post"

Find a rod of the same diameter, drill a hole in it for a new cotter pin ;)

Then weld the rod in. (welds on the back)
