I just finished reinstalling my transmission after replacing internals and I'm having some issues with the way that the shift selector assembly is interfacing with the shift rail feet. Keep in mind I haven't disassembled the shift selector assembly but I did remove and reinstall the shift rails.
So anyway there is too much side to side movement when it's in gear and the shifter falls back when trying to go in reverse. It's like the shift selector assembly isn't grabbing the foot of the 5-R shift rail, instead it's going past it and down into the void of the case.
I'll double check it tomorrow but the reverse idle gear bolt is properly tight but I'm 95% sure it's engaged in the top hat on the reverse idler gear.
Some of my questions:

Some of my questions:
- What part of the shift selector assembly keeps the control finger from grabbing two feet at once?
- What does the spring loaded plate do? What is it's purpose?
