shift linkage?

so i am working on my car after being away from it for a long time and i was having a problem befor with shifting. Right now i can shift 3rd and 4th no problem. When i try to move the shifter towards 1st/2nd or 5th/reverse I cant get the shifter to move side to side. I have the whole center torn apart and can see everything and everything is hooked up just not sure why I cant get the shifter to the sides. Any ideas?

You got the "SELECT" positioner on the transmission in the center position when in 3/4 gears. Look on the transmission and see if you got something blocking that "SELECT" positioner were it can't go up and down.

The "SHIFT" is the linkage that goes forward and backward and is on top and center of the shifting assembly.
