I had my shifter cables on wrong and the car only had 3-4-5-R so I fixed the issue and now the car only has 1-2-3-4.

I replaced
Cable bushings
Shifter plate bushings
B&M short throw
clutch fork
TOB
pivot ball
Slave and master

The car will also go into all gears fine when I grab the selector and more them around by hand and it had no issues driving around in 3-4-5-R last time it was running since then I came home for leave and i wouldnt start. I am going to hand off the car to another guy while im deployed and I'd like to give him some sort of direction on this.
Thanks, Adam

Did you install new cables? Did you make sure both ends of the cables are on the correct pins?

No they are the same cables that I pulled out of the donor with the transmission. I tried hooking them up several different ways but nothing worked, it made it worse and it feels like there isnt enough side to side play in the shifter for it to go over when the cables are hooked up. Almost like it hits a wall just before 5-R

I'm going home for the long weekend with one last attempt to get the car moving, I was reading about the early 95 and 96 cars having shorter cables in them then the remainder of the 2g's.

When I try to move the shifter over it felt like it was maybe too short for it to travel far enough side to side. The same thing happened when I had the cables on backwards it felt like it wouldn't travel far enough to get into first. I'm thinking the cables just may be too short and since my car is a 98 that could be the issue? Any thoughts on the theory
