Well I might be getting a freshly rebuilt SBR G50 for practically free and would like to know what people think about the turbo. My current mods are in my profile and I'm pretty sure are up to date.

How old is it?

Determining it's age may tell us which version of the G50 you're getting. The oldest G50's were made using actual 50-trim Garrett turbos in modified Mitsubishi turbine housings. After that they were built by Turbonetics, and now by Kinetic which uses no actual Garrett parts at all (much like the FP 18G-6SL2 uses no actual Mitsubishi parts).

I've seen some of the oldest-versions of G50's at the shop with nothing more than a little play or worn seals and I've seen a Kinetic-built G60 at the shop with a turbine that bent all on it's own at 140-some miles shortly after making 417whp. For your sake, I hope it's an older version.

I believe the turbo is around 4-5 years old which is why it was recently rebuilt. I'm also excited to know the condition of my FP18g once you rebuild it(once the funds are all there for it). Here is some pics he has of the G50 from awhile ago. I'm not sure if you'll be able to tell from the pics as you can't reall see the labeling.

And what size oil restricter would I have to run for this one since my oil feed is off the ofh and my bs are eliminated? I was thinking about using this as my drag turbo, and then having my 18g as my AutoX turbo. :rocks:

That's a Kinetic-built G50....and it hardly looks rebuilt to me. Does he have any documentation of the rebuild, or was it just some guy throwing a parts kit a used turbo and didn't bother to clean anything?

Yeah, the pics are before the rebuild. I called him out on it being a kinetic and he said he didn't even know, but he said the CHRA is DEF. Slowboy.

He is a close friend of mine so hes not trying to jew me if that is what your thinking Lol. And how much does a good 7 blade HX35 even go for nowadays? $300?

I ran this turbo on my car for only 2k before I sold it, but I was at 21 psi dd and it pulled hard. Mine was spooling slow because my WG flapper wasn't sealing properly.

Slowboy does not build turbochargers. They do, however, distribute turbos built by other vendors with their name on it. In this case Slowboy Racing sold your buddy a Kinetic T50 turbo under their own "G50" branding, and he's now selling it to you. Understand? :D

So does the turbo suck? Should I not buy it? Wisdom Justin! Lol

I thought you were using these turbos, not selling them.

Regardless, you could probably profit more selling that G50 that you got for "practically free".

Well I'm not sure if I wanna run a HX35(that I got for free but would still need to buy a BEP housing) right now because I haven't been doing autox that long and I think it would be too much power and the G50 my friend wanted to trade me for the HX35 and was gonna use that as my drag turbo. I'm just all lost on what I wanna do now.. :ohdamn:

I have my EWG FP18G setup that just needs a rebuild from you and I'd be good, and I have my hybrid 14b which is a mutant 14b.. And I can almost guarantee you if I ran the HX it would be getting a rebuild from you as well..
